So just typed in the most detailed race report I have ever done and it didnt submit it and I lost it. So this is going to not be as detailed. sorry.

Very happy with todays race, felt great and happy with my time on the course, Its a tough one. I forgot how hilly the course is. But mostly thrilled to get out of my low 1:30's rut and get back into the 1:20's hopefully I can forever stay away from the 1:30's!! Really wanted first place but saw Erica Shramm (smokin fast girl!) and knew I had no chance at first place. It kinda relieved me of the stress/pressure of trying to hold 1st place because I know she will be untouchable and she was, lost her about mile 1-2

Rode over with the Wildbull and Steve H (CONGRATS STEVE ON YOUR 1ST PLACE FINISH!!!!) . Got to the start and ran about a 1.5 miles to get my digestive system flowing, it helped! I have had stomach issues the past couple weeks and cant make it through a run without a pottybreak so was a little worried about today, i hate to lose time on a bathroom break! But I was good today. Started out on the front line with Bill, Dustin and Steve. There was another girl next to me that was bouncing around and stretching and looked like she might be some competition (and she was, she took 2nd).  Here are my splits..

Mile 1: 6:22 felt good, they guys and Erica right in front of me. pretty flat

Mile 2 6:28 still feelin good, 2nd place girl starts coming up on me but I pull away, it feels like she is drafting off me. still flat

Mile 3 6:44 start to have some incline, 2nd place girl pulls in front of me and is hangin with bill, I just want to keep her close.

Mile 4: 7:09 have some uphill, starting to feel a little fatigue, 2nd place girl pulls farther ahead-get a little discourage. Just want to hold 3rd place.

Mile 5 7:06 about the same as mile 4

Mile 6: 7:18 starting to get lazy and too comfortable!!

Mile 7 7:30 What the heck!!! even though there was some uphill here, I really got lazy!!! At this mile another girl comes up to my side and recongize her from when she passed me at Painters and by golly I wont let that happen again! Pull away and get a second wind and motivation as we are about to hit some good downhill.Gave myself a good peptalk!

Mile 8:6:57 start into the downhill and I know this is where i can make up some time. Start letting my legs just go.

Mile 9 5:52 steep down and feel great and start chicking some guys! trying to catch up to Bill and 2nd place girl comes into view but I know she is too far away for me to catch and pass her, she is clipping along.

Mile 10 6:13 flattens out, i know at this point if i can keep 7 flat I can come in under 1:30. But I also realize there is a Long stretch on uphill coming.

Mile 11:6:54 starting on the incline and trying to keep focused

Mile 12 7:20 on the incline, I dont think I got lazy here-it seems like the icline goes forever. Looking back I think i could have pushed a little harder through here especially being so close to the finish.

Mile 13: 6:36Heading downtown to the finish. See Steve and he gives a cheer of encouragement. Should have pushed harder here too.

and last .10 was 26 sec.

Overall I am happy, although I can see where I slacked a little bit. I felt like I still had gas in the tank at the end, I need to seriously work on  and let it hurt a little more throughout the whole race. The last time i did this race was in 2006 in 1:38 so huge PR on the course for me.  My legs felt good and it was great to hang out the "the club"! Thanks Bill for giving me a ride over. I feel like these guys are my big brothers. They are always looking out for me!

Great job Marcie!! that is so exciting to be out of the 1:30s can't wait to see that myself. You rocked on a hard course.

From Shauna on Sat, May 03, 2008 at 17:11:31

Great job-what an amazing time!!

From MichelleL on Sat, May 03, 2008 at 17:45:24

Great job Marcie! Way to give yourself a pep talk. I don't care what the incline is, to have a sub 6 minute mile in there is way impressive. And your foot felt fine during the race?

From Brent on Sat, May 03, 2008 at 17:57:10

MarcieeeeeeJ - considering the course, sign up for Hobblecreek in a hurry, a PR is coming in your future. Me and Sylvie signed up yesterday, it fills quickly. 200 commando points for the 3rd overall and 100 for the second in division.

Stay Kool, run hard, B of BS Rools out

Thanks everyone!

Josse-I have no doubt you will be in the mid to low twenties this summer!

Michelle-

everything felt great, my foot thing went away. I had a deep tissue following the race and feel so good now. I am going to be more proactive about getting those done before a problem occurs.

Brent- I know I bearly got in last year.

From Christi on Sat, May 03, 2008 at 21:36:18

Marcie! You are amazing!!! Wonderful job today, congrats on the PR! Great mental strength today as you made yourself speed up and not get too comfortable, it paid off! I can learn quite a few lesson from you, (one is that I should have done the warmup run to get the digestive system going like you did!)

From Ally Holt on Sat, May 03, 2008 at 23:41:17

You need to give yourself credit for the 13.1 miles you ran:)

From Dustin on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 00:00:19

Great job yesterday. I kept thinking anytime you and the wildbull would be catching up to me. I getting excited for the summer and more time to train. I just signed up for the Hobblecreek Half this morning.

From JeffC on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 11:02:31

Yea that Erica Schramm is a quick one. Her husband is also very fast but I didn't see his results, did he not run? She ran the corporate challenge mile down here in Vegas in about 5:20. Congratulations on a nice run and good finish.

From Cal on Mon, May 05, 2008 at 11:19:54

Congrats Marcie! Sounds like its a tougher course than Hobblecreek so this was a PR performance!

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, May 08, 2008 at 16:41:52

This is definitely a PR equivalent. I figure Hobble Creek is 4-6 minutes faster than this. And it is starting to smell like a sub-3 in St. George.

Jeff - Mike Schramm won the 5 K in 17:17 according to the results at http://runnercard.com

From JeffC on Thu, May 08, 2008 at 17:01:33

Thanks for the info Sasha, I hadn't seen any results for him in awhile and wondered if he was injured......apparently not....WOW...fast couple.
