So I am way excited to write this race report. A 2 minute PR, a 5 minute course PR, 1st overall womens and I am $500.00 dollars richer!!
So my goal going into this race was 1:25. I knew I wanted to run the first 2 miles around 6:30 (which is flat and slight incline) because then you drop into some steep downhill and I knew I could let gravity take me and recover from a fast start. I wanted to get those downhill miles around 5:45 to bank some time so when the flat and rollers came I could have a little edge room. Everything worked out fairly well.
1. 6:28
2. 6:44 (slight slight incline, ready for the downhill)
3.5:45
4. 5:49
5. 6:11 feeling good, not as steep, flattens and then down again but not super steep
6. 6:07 kinda suprised me when I saw this split, felt like I had slowed down more than I had
7. 6:25 through tropic, flat and some incline, the end of this mile I am feeling a little tired , I think to myself "I hope I can push through this, take 1 shot block .
8. 6:39 feeling better here even though I am slowing a little, not a lot of downhill anymore
9.6:52 a guy passes me here and I ask him where the next girl behind me is and he tells me the last he saw a girl was at mile 4. He says the next runners behind are a quarter mile back and there is no girls. I dont know if I should have asked because I relaxed and think I may have slowed down but I am not sure if I was getting tired or more at ease with my position. BTW he was the only guy that passed me and stayed passed me, 3 or 4 others did but I ended up chicking them all back.
10. 6:38
11.6:59 starting to feel tired here and it showed with this mile
12. 6:55
13.6:45
.1 36 secs
Felt so good to have a good day and get a PR. Ran a few cool down miles with Josse and talked with lots of other runners and bloggers I know. I had so much fun catching up with all my runner friends after the race, that was the best part! well... and the cash:) I also got the UGLIEST trophy i ever seen! Logan and I got some pic's holding them together, they gotta be priceless. |
