Goal was 1:22 and to place in the Top5 Women. Didnt quite make it there, stomach cramped bad at mile 2 and mile 7 or 8 I had to stop and take a VERY visible potty break (just ask Tom!!)  Two girls passed me on that break I was never able to catch, felt pretty nausious the rest of the race. Overall though I am happy with my performance today, esp considering not feeling too hot. I just hope I dont get a crummy tummy like for SG. Hey but my hamstring felt good (thanks to jody scraping it for me!) so I am very happy with that. I had fun talking with lots of bloggers!!! and hanging out with my sister-in-law Jody. My splits are messed up because my garmin kept losing signal through the canyon.

after the race Jody and I sat in the creek behind our cabin for 15 min, oh man that was cold!!!

I just got home so I am going to go relax, eat and watch the marathon...so I get to posting comments on everyones races later on..

MJ Hammered it down with a PR today, 500 commando points and another 300 for the age division win, congradulations.

Nice to meet you for a moment. Just a thought, it seems you have a pack of runners, you, Tom, Wildbull all running about the same, any talks of pacing to break 3 hrs at St.George?

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

Thanks Brent! Wildbull and I plan to run the race together. I talked to Tom today. I think we could all work well off of each other. Josse should be running with us too!

Great job Marcie! It was so good to see you again. I'm looking forward to seeing you at SG.

First in age, 6th overall, very little, if no taper and a great STGM training run. Alot of positives from this race for you. Congrats on yet another solid performance! That sub 3 group sounds like a great plan, strength in numbers.

From Superfly on Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 23:52:55

Good job and it will be great for you STG prep. 5 more weeks! Kind of scary actually.

From Jody on Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 02:06:48

You continually amaze me! I wish I could watch and cheer you on, know that I am from many miles behind! You did an amazing job and were so tough, you even survived the creek!

From marion on Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 11:21:29

You did fantastic yesterday! It was SO great to meet you! Thanks so much for trying to get me the singlet! I am so excited for it to come in the mail! Hope to see you again soon!

Awesome run! I feel for you about the stomach problems. There isn't much worse! I admire that you pushed hard to the end regardless of your tummy. That takes a lot of heart. You are still my hero!

From Dustin on Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 11:46:26

Nice job on the race and dealing with the tummy problems. A few more solid weeks and the marathon will be here before we know it.

From josse on Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 12:09:27

Great job on the race!! A pr is so great to get even when you are not feeling the best. It was so fun to see you and looking forward to SG (hopefully the aknle hold up).

Sorry you had tummy trouble but you still did great!

From Christi on Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 20:50:13

1:24 is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Amazing to me!!! I can't even believe I know a chic that runs that fast. You rocked it! Sorry about the tummy issues, but glad the hammy is feeling OK. Sounds like you've got another good (funny) running story under your belt too with the visible potty break... hee hee...

From MichelleL on Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 23:30:01

Great job on your race Marcie! And it was so nice to be able to hang out again before the race. I hope we can do some hanging out again before/after St. G. I think it is safer to assume there will be some degree of stomach issues at St. G. Accept it and plan on it. Even with some hiccups this year should be a sub-3 year for you, and you could be looking at a top - 10 finish this year (see yrs 2004-2006).

From walter on Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 00:49:50

Great job Marcie, I had those issues on my race up north. It totally takes you out of rhythm. Thats a great time still considering the stops you went through. It seems like every race keeps getting faster and more people are getting better! Its awesome! Keep up the good work, I cant wait to meet you SG runners in a few short weeks!

From Wildbull on Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 11:34:31

great run Marcie. Not sure if i would of cought up with you if you would of not had any problems. I got cought way back in the pack and it took some time to get out of the traffic jam. We are going to do well at sg.

From kellies on Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 11:41:41

Great job at the race. Wow, 6th overall, that is impressive. Way to push through those stomach cramps. They always get the best of me!! Keep up the good work~

From MarcieJ on Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 17:21:01

Thanks for the great comments everyone!

Michelle, I looked at the results and it looks like each year the times get faster and faster for the top10. I dont think I have that great of shot at top 10, its very flattering that you think I do though! I really hope to get the Silver Shoe Award, which is the first female SG resident to come in. I have never had stomach troubles in SG so hopefully that continues. We will for sure have to get together either pre-or post race or both:)

Walter, it does throw ya out of sync, it took me a couple miles to just get moving again. SG is going to be a blast!

Bull, you always get me so excited about what we can pull off this year! I cant wait!

Marion, make sure to call the store and make sure Steve has your address to ship it.

From walter on Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 21:36:44

Your right there Marcie, I slowed down about 20 seconds for mile 11 and 12 and then got back to my race pace.
