Ran the Trails 20 miler. Small race but very well organized and ran smoothly. Rode the bus up with JamesH and Dustin. Didnt really have a "real " plan for this race, told Dustin I wanted to run half easy and half at marathon pace. I told him I would hope to be in by 2:30. My marathon miles are kinda scattered all over the run, not what I planned. I got a little lazy in this run. I was all by my lonesome the whole race and ended up not really pushing the last half. I just got comfortable and enjoyed the scenery and let my mind wander to the marathon. Had plenty of steam at the end and could have kept going. The course was pretty rolling hills and the last 2-3 miles you are climbing alot. So this run was a good confidence booster for SG.

Ran this race in Saucony racing flats and loved them! Felt so light on my feet. My leg felt good. My quad was a little tight the first couple miles but that went away. Ran a cool down .75 mi with Bill and Mike. 15 ice bath after.

Avg pace 7:06

Such a great pace, I don't know, that's not lazy in my book. Were you wearing the Saucony type A2 (the red ones)? I have those, but I have been thinking they are for 1/2 marathons or shorter.

Wow! Nice job Marcie! Was this a single track trail?

Great race today! What a great confidence booster for STGM. I really think this is a tough course. You did awesome. This will send a shiver of fear to the Circle Of Trust. Bermuda Triangle strikes again!!!

From Dustin on Sat, Sep 06, 2008 at 15:25:01

Great race and especially without anybody to run with. I enjoyed the course and felt the miles went by pretty fast, even though like you I was running the entire time alone. I struggle a bit at the end, but I think overall, this was a good 20 miler to get prepared for the marathon. Glad the shoes felt good, sometimes trying out something new on a long run and make a person nervous.

Great job Marcie. It is great to have confidence booster this close to SG. Glad you like the hammer gel.

Congratulations on another win - you are simply amazing. I wish we could be at the St. George marathon this year to cheer you on, but I don't think that is going to work with baby. He's scheduled to come on the 23rd, but I won't complain if it's sooner. Keep up the good work and say hi to Garrett!

Michelle,

They are orange and navy, I have no idea what length of race. I just went into the store yesterday and Steve was shocked I run in my trainers and told me to try these out. The cushioning was perfect, but so much lighter. Could tell a big difference there.

Bonnie,

Its called the Trails but its really on a reg. paved road.

Mike, yes the circle of trust should be shivering scared right now lol:)

Thanks Dustin, it was a great training run! You did great!

Thanks Josse!

Andee, Yes a baby takes priority over the marathon for sure, so excited to see the little guy. We will be up the week after the marathon for Diggers wedding so we will get to see him them. Garrett says hi back!

Great job! It was so fun to finally meet you in person, not just blog stalking mode. I envy your love of running, I love it but I couldn't just go forever! I wish I could run the distances that you do and really really enjoy it!
