Wow a 5k is tougher than I thought! I think I like the longer distances better. Met Dustin and some others for a warmup, ran the course. Very very flat, very honest! Saw Erica at the start and she is speedy speedy so I knew my shot of 1st was out the window.

1. 6:14 (had a hard time getting my breathing in sync)

2. 6:15 (feeling better here and in a groove)

3. 6:26 (ughhh seriousley thought i was going to throwup here, get passed by cross country girl, try so hard to stick with her but cant)

.1 55 sec  (6:42 pace) I didnt realize how much I slowed down here, that hurt my time alot!

Overall felt decent and my race that matters is next week so today was some good speedwork, polishing.  Chatted with a lot of people after the race, that was so much fun. Tons of girls in my ward ran and their kids so that was fun to see them all and we even a got a ward picture. Talked for awhile to Erica and her husband after the race, she is so awesome and fun to talk to and gave me some good advice for SG (she ran 2:54 last year). Very very nice people. Ran a cool down with Bull back on the course. Had a great time today! So excited for next week, I can hardly wait and my foot felt good today, could not feel the blister on the race but after it was a little sore, will be just fine by marathon day. Now off to my massage with April, whoo hooo! Hopefully I will make it easier for her today since I have had no issues with my hamstrings, quads, or calves lately (knock on wood!)

Ice bath 15 min (didnt feel cold enough though)

Good job on the race. 5Ks are the pits, I have a good one about once every 2 years if I'm lucky. Sub-20 on an honest course should set you up nicely for next week.

Congratulations on a sub-20:00 on an honest course. 5 K is exceptionally miserable when you are in shape to run it. I've said many times that a marathon hurts less than an honestly run 5 K when you've trained for it.

Congrats on your 5k... that's a impressive pace!

From Jody on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 16:33:56

Congrats! You did awesome! I am interested in the route change from last year. It was weird today not to be running it, but better things to come next week. Swiss days is always fun because you see so many people you know.

MJ Hammer - 300 commando points for the 5K PR. 5Ks, best if you can pace with someone else, darn hard to hold pace.

Stay Kool, have a great St. George, B of BS Rools out

Great job, I agree 5k's are brutal. You ran well and it is a perfect workout for the week before a great marathon.

Marcie, great race! Thats a very good 1st 5k. I would say do more of them. Have a great final week of training and kick some tail in STGM!

From Dustin on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 22:35:01

Great job on the race, I think you're ready for next week, should be lots of fun.

I had my massage with April right after you, it was nice and I'm feeling pretty good.

GREAT JOB Marcie!!! You seriously did great, I agree with you about 5k's though, I think they are so much harder than long distance races! I'm so proud of you that you got a sub 20. . . . someday I will too . . . someday . . . !

I'm so excited to see how your marathon turns out, you will do so great! I'll send out some positive energy vibes for you and for the weather :) :) :)
