Very slow run today...felt like I was running in place the whole time. We went a new route and didn't know how far it was and it ended being farther than what we thought and so got in a few extra today. Excited for the new year! I have lots of goals set that I want to accomplish this year and not just with running. Good luck to everybody and their New Years Resolutions too! | |

Finally I have a second to sit down and type my run for the day. I didnt have time to type it this morning and usually I have a second at work to but I did not have one spare minute. I also started seeing patients during my lunch hour so I can have Fridays off now, which I am so excited about (even though fridays have been just a half day.)
Had a good run this morning, nothing exciting happened and no watch. Then went to the gym after work to get a little weight training in. | |

Well today truly might end up being a no mile day but we will see. I am doing a seven day full body internal cleanse/detox from ReNew Life (not a fasting cleanse). I know some people might think this weird but I think its important to your body. Anways Im on day 6 today and woke up feeling pretty fatigued (they say its normal to have a day or two that you are a little drained) So I decided to take the morning off and if I am feeling more energized by the end of the day then I may go out and do a short run. I think it will be better for me to rest and feel good tomorrow then wear myself out and feel low tomorrow too.

My friend cancelled whom I was going to meet at a quarter to five so I slept in and didnt head out til about 8:30. Weather was sooo nice..I had to go back inside and take of a few layers before heading out 40 when I left and 44 when I got home. Felt much better today, stilla little fatigued but nothing like I was yesterday. I am glad I let my body rest.

Ok so we are totally getting spoiled with the weather down here right now (over 50F when I left) and I am getting spoiled with being able to sleep in and not head out til later. Left again around 8:30. So nice cuz in the summer months sleeping in is not even a option and I would die of heat exhaustion if I attempted to start a run at 8:30 in the summer.
Well today I felt the best I have in a couple of weeks, thank goodness. Did 8 20 sec strides today. whoohooo! I finally through them into my run. Kinda sad it has taken me this long to actually do them since Sasha suggested them clear back in mid november. Had some good paced miles today too, had a 7:03,6:58,7:15, 7:14, and 6:57.
Avg pace was 7:30, 1:30 (realized when I was in the shower that I typed in yesterdays time for todays run so it wasnt 1:16)
Also did Abs, free weight, squats, lunges, dips, and pushups as well.

Again very warm weather, totally overdressed. Only had time for 8 this morning, ran 5 with friend Nat and then had time to add 3 more. Hopefully tonight I will have time to do 2-3 more miles and weights at that the gym tonight. Its the college national championship game (FB) tonight so we might be going somewhere to watch it or having people over so that might interfer a little.

| So no run today, my running partner is under the weather so I was planning on going after work but as the day went on I was informed of other things going on that took priority, my father-in-law was getting sworn in tonight to city council so we wanted to go support him and my grandma got a strep/stalf infection in her lungs over Christmas and they had to put a trach in so she could breath. Just found out today that they are flying her up to Provo tomorrow to a special center to help her learn to function with the trach, so I need to head down to the hospital to see her before she goes. So those things are a little more important then getting my run in tonight. (and just in case anyone suggests running to the hospital and back, thats a no from me I dont want to walk into ICU sweaty and stinky:) | |

What a great run I had tonight with the club! I ran up from my house 1.5 mi to the store(had to start out uphill and a little faster to make it in time but I wanted a warmup before I started out with the speedsters. There are alot of fun people there. I have been worried about Painters, just because I have upped my mileage and really have done much in the speed work department. But tonight I realized that although I may not being getting a PR (which I have never planned on at all) I think I will be able to do ok in this run. When I am running with people that are pushing the pace, I do okay keeping up. Tonight reminded me kinda of a race in the aspect of it was me and all guys andI did not want them to think I was a wimp so I held on, in the race its the same thing, when there are others around me I kick into a different gear and my mental takes over my physical and I can hang on to others around me. So tonights run did me mentally good (as well as physical). I started out with Steve, Dustin, Dave, Bill and Mike and then stayed with Dustin for a little and then Mike for a little and then turned off early and ran home,ending up with 9 mi.
7:13, 7:22, 7:15, 6:49, 6:58, 6:52, 6:43 , had a mile warmup from the store and a mile cool down. (I think a couple of those would have been faster if Dustin and Dave didnt have me laughing so hard that I could bearly run!!!) | |

Whew! ! My legs were definetley feeling last nights run. Slept in a little and took it very easy today. I put my ipod on low and just let my mind roam and think about alot of things. I thought about how much I love life lifes little pleasures and what one person may find enjoyable is so different from what another finds enjoyable. Isnt it so great that we are not all the same and are driven by different things. Our reasons to run are probably all so different from one anothers! Everyone have a great FRIDAY!

What a beautiful morning! Ran about 3.5 with my running friends (they were going about 5.5) and then cut off to add on an extra big loop to give me 12. Did 6x30sec strides and then the last 3 miles I picked up the pace to low 7's. My legs were still a little heavy feeling today.
Next week I am going to try not to taper to much but heres my plan and any suggestions are welcome
mon:10mi, tues 8 mi, wed 10 mi, thurs 6-8 mi and fri 4-6mi and Sat Painters. I plan on taking most of these runs fairly easy, should I do one speed workout????

Had a great run with Mike Warren this morning. He was so nice to meet me earlier than he usually goes. Ran a good 10 mi loop that had some pretty good gradual incline and some rolling hills. Put half on easy and half on marathon pace, wasnt a tempo (could talk full sentences) but wasnt a real easy run for me, so kinda in between. Stomach kinda yucky today and I felt that slowed me down a little. (possibly from eating some not so good running foods for me this weekend). I am really going to watch my diet this week and start being a little stricter on it after painters to get me really good shape.
Question: I am 4ft 11 1/2 in. What should be my ideal running weight for that height? | |

Was going to get up early before my run with my tues/thurs group (the girl who would go earlier with me on tues/thurs has mono) and just run laps around my neighborhood but was so tired I was lucky to get up at all. Yesterday was a VERY long day! So I will go tonight after work and get in a few more. Hopefully today goes smoother!
PM: didnt think I was going to make it back out, had myself talked out going but decided to head out after cub scouts. Did an easy out and back (total 6 mi), kept the pace slow so my legs wouldnt be tired for my run in the morning with mike and of course painters! A nice headwind on the way out but a nice push from behind on the way back.

Another great run with Mike W, did another route with some good incline. Again put half on easy and half on marathon pace, another in betweener. Wind was blowing to start but died down fairly early on into our run. Legs were a little tired to start but felt much better the second half. Had a good conversation about goals for Ogden! Going to take it very easy on tomorrow and fridays run.

After yesterdays run my hamstring tightned up pretty good, this morning when I got up to go run it was still pretty tight. Decided I would let it get warmed up throughout the day and some good stretching and then go tonight with the club and just take it easy. I will play it by ear though, if its still pretty tight tonight then I may just let it rest til tomorrow morning .
pm: Went out with the running club after work, hamstring felt pretty good most of the way, got a little tight along with my quad but eased up, lots of stretching tonight and tomorrow. I had hard time just finding a spot where I felt comfortable, had a little side stitch most of the way, had to drop back, couldnt keep up with most of the group plus wanted to take it easy too. Thank goodness for Dustin he ran the last couple miles with me and told me his whole life story to keep mind off of running! Thanks Dustin-you have a great life story!

Just an easy four around my neighborhood, sheesh I dont know if its pre-race anxiety and feel every little pain but my legs felt like two bricks and right leg was a little tight and did I mention its COLD out there! So this race was mentally and physically challenging for me. This whole week I have felt pretty off and today was no exception. I was really going to try to stay with MichelleL and then Ruth (who both rocked it! whoohoo you two!) but knew from the start that I would fall over dead if I tried to keep their pace. I did a 2 mile warmup with Michelle and Josse before the race and my hamstring was not warming up. Probably til about mile 10 it felt like my left leg wanted to move but my right would not get moving. That through me off a little but I just did not feel good today. I have not had a race like that for a long time where I just did not feel good, very fatigued from the gun. I felt really bad after like I let the FRB team down. Everyone seemed to come in under their predicted times and I went over by 6 min. So that was little frustrating for me. I am pleased that with the way I felt that I was able to make the time that I did cuz for awhile I thought I would be in the high 30's. The highlight of the run was Dustin and Bill (wildbull) running me in the last 2 miles and making me push my limit. Thanks so much you two-and Bill your lifestory was not as interesting as Dustins:) Then Sasha came on us the last 1/2 mile and got me going with a sprint to the end (I thought I was going to die-usually I have that in me to sprint and get extra adrenanline at the end but not today) .The finish line was great to have all the FRB's there and feel like I was a part of something and feeling the support at the end. I truly am thankful for all you guys!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for helping me feel ok about my performance! I now glad I had this race to humble me and to learn from and now I know what I need to do for Moab and Ogden (and all my other races)to get in myself in shape so I can blow away my goals! I am going to work soooo hard to reach them ! Hold me to it!

Ran 10 easy miles with Mike. Wish today would have been painters cuz my legs felt so good, granted our pace was a lot slower but my legs felt so fresh, no soreness at all and my hamstring had no tightness at all. Could not be happier about that. Weather was good, got really hot with too many layers. Mike and I talked more about Ogden and what training we are going to do. Its nice to have someone to run with that has similar goals! Planning on going to the gym to lift some weights and will most likely add a few miles on the treadmill tonight after work. Its my hubby's birthday today so we will see though.

Ran our reg 5 loop. Nice and easy . The last stretch has some pretty good incline, one of the girls decided we should push the end. So got one long stride in at the end. Ok so I wish the weather was like this all year long. It was around 40, probably would have been ok in shorts today. It was nice! Plan is to go back out after work and do another 6-8 mi.
Went out and did close to 3 miles, got out of work a little later than planned. Ended up working out that I didnt go further (GI issues hit). Going to try to take my easy days actually easy from here on out and my hard runs hard. I may have a some "in betweeners" as sasha would call them this week due to that this is going to be more of a recovery week for me (let my hamstring take it easy) and then next week start into some serious training for Ogden.

Ran with friend Peg, it was good run. Hamstring felt a little tight running to the corner to meet her. Did alot of stretching before we took off and did not feel it a bit during the run. I need to go to the chiro and make sure my hips are not out of whack (I think that may be contributing )
I hoping to make it to club tonight to run but I forgot I have Pack Meeting til this morning. So we will see how much I feel like rushing tonight to run, shower, and make it there in a short amount of time.

update:just got back from my chiropractor ( I usually go about every 2-3 ms but have not been before the marathon) and I was extremely out of whack. My hip was really torked, so I think it should really help my hamstring. The first time I had trouble with my hips being torked a little (about 5 yrs ago) it pulled my quad really bad. So we will see how it feels!
PM So went with the club tonight, did the same usual route.Did a 1.25 mile warmup around the store. Ran with Ruth most of the first half.. Had a good discussion with Holt if I qualified for a handicap sticker for my car because of heighth. Thanks Holt j/k i actually thought it was pretty funny! Then we got to where you can turn and make it 7 or add on to do 10. Steve and Mike were going on so I though what the heck I will do ten (got out of pack meeting tonight, they didnt need my help tonight) and forgot about my warmup mile. So I ended up with plenty more miles than I anticipated today, oh well. It felt good to get them in. Had a great run with Mike and Steve.They were nice to let me tag along:) The route had alot of uphill, which was good for me to do. Overall pace was 7:30 but had some low 7's, a couple 7:03, 7:04, 7:13, 7:08. Happy with that for a night run, and the uphill. Thanks guys for a good run! My hamstring felt so good, I felt balanced running and both legs were getting equal movement, instead of a pull on my right leg! very happy about that, i dont know why I didnt go sooner! | |

| Decided this morning that I needed to get some cross training in, so rather than go run outside and then have to change clothes and drive to the gym, I opted to do miles at the gym on the treadmill. Did 25 min on the elipitical and then hopped on the treadmill, set it to 7.5 (8 min mile) and went at it for 8 mi. Actually for a treadmill it wasnt too bad and the pace was pretty easy so I was pretty relaxed. Then did about 20 min of weights. Now for the fun stuff, I need to do some housecleaning and laundry! | |

Ran with the club down the marathon course, legs were definetely feeling this weeks miles today and my Bajios dinner did not sit to well this run (2 bathroom breaks). The faster guys went ahead and I decided to just hang back and not try to kill myself today. The nice thing about the marathon course is after you get the dammeron hills over (or I refer to them as the 3B's) then its just on cruise control the rest of the way. I did keep my pace around 7:20s for the hills, had a lot of low 7's and 2-3 miles under 7. It was beautiful morning and oh yah Mike wanted me to all let you know that when we started out at the top of Veyo hill there was like 8 in of snow that us southerners ran in! (wink wink).

Ran with Mike, wanted to do 3 mi warmup 6 mi tempo and 3 cooldown. Since I havent been doing reg tempos I wanted to try to keep a 7 min mile and then each week to try to take that lower. Was a little worried today because my stomach yesterday was a mess and wasnt feeling 100% this morning (and still is not:(. But it actually felt ok for most of the run.
First 3 mi warmup had some good incline7:55, 8:04, 7:53 (during this time we are debating on starting the tempo on the uphill or wait til mile 4.5-5 to flatten out, decide to start . Felt really good for the first mile and then I started to really feel the incline and then my stomach got a little cramped. At 1.5 into the tempo and about where it starts to flatten I stop for VBP and tell Mike to just go ahead. Then I try to catch up to Mike, see him on the way back and turn around with him (cut off .2 from tempo, but made it up at the end of the run) . Then I just ran a few yards behind Mike til the last mile and then side to side to the end. Today it felt like my mind wanted to work but my legs didnt. I have alot of work to do to get my tempo times down down down but I know it will come with consistent training. My splits are little offs from Mikes from my bathroom break and slightly behind him. For all the running I have been doing lately I feel sorta out of shape, hopefully it will get better! Esp once it warms up and I can wear shorts and just a long sleeve. Spring and summer are always my good months!
1st tempo mile 6:56, then for 3/4 mi 7:26 (stopped my garmin here, bathroom break), 6:47 (trying to catch up to mike), 7:07, 7:05, 7:01.

Stopped at McDonalds to use the restroom. Pretty uneventful run but was just nice. Plan on going with the club tonight if I get off in time, if not will just run around my neighorhood. Ran with Mike today. Did a new route today. Actually I think most of our runs have all been different routes which is nice because I have the tendency to do the same run over and over and over. So its nice to switch it up. The route had some long stretches of gradual incline and then some downhill as well. Cooled off with a mile around the SCHS track. My running would be very crappy right now if I didnt have Mike to meet me early in the mornings. Thank you so much Mike for letting me run with you!

Ran with Mike, felt pretty good most of the run, a little fatigued towards the end but not bad, was hoping to maybe get 16 but had to get back for a primary activity so thats all I had time to do. Had some miles in the upper 6's and low 7's. Next week I need to get my miles up a little higher.

Well St.George got SNOW! it wasnt the light fluffy kind but really slushy and icy. Kudos to all you that run in it on a consistent basis!!! The roads were very slick today, we had plans to run 12 but with having to slow down so much we were only able to get a little over 10 mi.
I hope the sun comes out and melts it all today!

Went to the gym after work and did some weights. Wanted to get 2 more miles on but couldnt bring myself to get on the treadmill. Decided I would come home get dinner going and while the chicken was in the oven go run a couple miles to get to 12 for the day. Then I did some abs as well. Now I am eating some a delicous chicken salad. Worked out perfect.

Reg tues run, felt good. Nice and easy but very chilly. Once it gets warmer I will start getting up earlier and adding miles before I meet my group. (I used to have someone to meet me before hand but she has mono) Plan on getting out after work and finishing my miles. and doing some stretching. MichelleL (i think it was her or josse)gave someone the idea to stretch and read scriptures. I did that last night and it was great, that will be my new routine.

Last night a couple hours after my run, my hamstring really tightned up and it hurt. This is the first time that it has hurt and not just been tight and annoying (it hadbeen feeling really good for a couple weeks now). I iced and stretched. This morning i could still feel it on walking so I cancelled on Mike for our tempo, afraid I might hurt it worse (sorry Mike and hey isnt it your BIRTHDAY today???) I am going to go to the gym tonight and get on the elipitcal and maybe do a few light miles on the TM. Then I think the next couple weeks I am going to back off on the miles just a little. I am hoping it is feeling ok so I can get a good quality run in on friday or sat.
A half hour on the elipitcal, wanted to stay on longer but got bored watch the TV and I could feel it in hamstring.Did some free weights as well. ICE ICE ICE, HEAT HEAT HEATand STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH alot tonight! I hope it feels better tomorrow. I am incredibly frustrated that its feeling the way it does:( | |

Debated all today whether I should run or let the leg rest one more day. Decided last minute to run a few easy miles. Ran up towards the running store and told myself if I was feeling good then I would go with the club and get 8-10 in but if not then go on my own. My leg took awhile to warm up, no pain but my left leg just felt heavy (i think i need another hip adjustment) as well as the rest of my body. I felt like a hippopotamus out there trying to run! Stopped at old mcdonalds to use the restroom, felt a little lighter after that but not much. So an easy 4 is all I got but its better than nothing and i didnt over due on the leg. I plan on getting back at it tomorrow doing 10 easy and then around 12-15 easy on sat.
Went and picked up a rx for a strong anti inflammatory that helped my leg alot last time this happened last spring. I am now debating whether I should run the spectrum 10k, after it last year is when my hamstring started acting up and then it was good all summer. Then after the SC half which is virtually the same course it started acting up again. I think its the steep downhill then beats it up. | |

Ran with Mike. My leg felt ok going out but then I had a pit stop to use the bathroom and after that the top of my calf and up behind my knee tightned up really bad and then about a mile or two after that I felt a sharp pain. Stopped and walked for a second but the rest of the way it was cramping up sooooo bad, felt like a charlie horse. We ended up walking and jogging the last couple miles back. It kept cramping and then it felt like it would buckle a little. Oh I am so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its never bothered me like this where its made have to stop and walk-very annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the gym and did 45 min on elipitical, kinda bothered my leg a little but not too bad. I was SOOO BORED on it. I need a good 15 mi on saturday mornings, not the stinkin elipitical, plus there is mirrors everywhere and I am ghostly white! Not a pretty site to look at! I like running outside, I dont have to comb my hair or worry about my white legs cuz I cant see myself when I am out running! So if I look scary I would have no idea, ignorance is bliss.
I am going to go get a deep tissue today on my leg, I have been icing and heating all yesterday and this morning and will continue to do so. I hope the massage is a miracle worker and loosens me up, cuz I NEED to run!!!
UPDATE: Just got back from my deep tissue and SHE IS A MIRACLE WORKER!!! Let me just put a shout out to April Larsen, she is an awesome thereapist and really knows her stuff. She was able to exactly target the areas that are the root of the problem and work specifically on them and relieve the tightness. I had several VERY deep knots that she said she could tell they had been there for a VERY long time. I kinda felt a little embarassed that I have gone this long and never had a true deep tissue. Its the same thing when you go get a pedicure and you know you have not been taking proper care of your feet!She says it no suprise that it hurt to run on it. I told her her how my hips get torked and I feel lopsided and that I go to the chiro to get adjusted frequently. Well she says she loves chiros but my hip issue is a result of the muscles being tight and pulling. She worked that out and I already can feel a difference.WOW! My leg feels so much better although I can tell i will be a little sore tomorrow. She also said I could feel pretty exhausted because my body has been so tight and tense that relieving all that will finally let my body relax. I AM SO HAPPY that steve recommended her to me. I may need to go back a couple more times if necesarry and then I am going to mantain by going once a month to her, its so worth it!!!!!!!!!! | |

Ran with Mike, felt awesome the first half, second half leg tightned up a little, but I am not suprised, April told me it would probably take 2-3 to see her to get the knots totally worked out because of how long they have been there and how deep they were.Going to hope to get btween 50 and 60 mi this week (will do some x-training as well), and not planning on any real speed work, dont think my leg can handle it quite yet.

| So I been thinking how lucky I have been that I have gotten the "crud" that everyone else around here has gotten. (everyone at my work and all my family) I guess i didnt knock on wood loud enough because I have it now. Last night around 9pm I started to feel a little achy and throat scratchy, had a bad night sleeping and now I feel pretty miserable. I went to work the first half of the day and then they actually rescheduled my patients for this afternoon. Hopefully I can sleep the rest of the day and feel better tomorrow. Took the opportunity to sleep in this morning and get a little extra rest. Had another deep tissue with April last night and she worked on a few more huge knots. One of them was right below the back side of my knee and she said she had never ever seen that muscle curl up before and it was severely knotted up. That one has a killer to have worked up, for its the one that spasmed on me last week.When she worked on that area she said she could see my hamstring jump. I could tell once it released because the tension just let go! and it felt so good. Then she worked on a couple more on my hamstring, I must say I think I have some pretty good pain tolerance. She said I had some of the toughest knots and that most of her guy clients would be crying by now. "I put her guy clients to shame" was her exact quote. I didnt even flinch the whole time. Enough of my bragging, I did the elipitcal after work at the gym, body was still feeling fatigued from being sick. Did 30 min of it a few weights, abs and 3x1 min planks and 2x45sec side planks. Gol those are hard!

Very nice run with Mike today. And the best thing was that my leg felt the best it has in a long time. Not saying its back to 100% but at least 85%. No tighntess at all in my calf or hamstring, but my right quad seemed a little fatigued and heavy. April said my body will have an adjustment period and I might feel a little off til it gets situated. Used the stick when I got home.

Had a good run with the club today, well...actually had a good first 3 miles with Mike and Steve and then I was a lone ranger from there on out. Missed the turn at one point so ended up with 15 (we drove out 16) , contemplated adding one more but I was done by then. I think my body was just spent from being sick earlier in the week and having taken some time off. felt great, Hamstring/calf felt awesome!Right quad got pretty tight, not painful just tight. Have an appt with April again on tues night, talked to her this morning and she said my body is just shifting and adjusting , so not too worried. Course was downhill with a couple good climbs and then pretty flat. Started out pretty fast and kinda tuckered out towards the end.

Ran 10 miles after work. My last two patients of the day cancelled last minute so I was able to head out a little earlier. Wore shorts and t-shirt, so nice not to be bulked up in excess clothing. Just took it really easy, felt some restriction in my quad. Cant wait to see April again tomorrow! She is my new favorite person right now. Stopped to stretch around mile 2 and never restarted my garmin so nice pace or time but I can tell you I was a slug:) Now I going to do my little home weight routine.

| So I went and got my leg worked on again. My quad had been getting really tight. I had a really bad knot at the top of my quad that she thinks has been stemming all my issues with my leg. When she was working on it but whole leg just went nuts, it was totally shaking/quivering and then all the muscles around it curled up.She said that shows how that has been affecting my whole leg, pulling on all the other muscles.So hopefully this helps relax EVERYTHING. I am pretty sore in my quad with a gigantic bruise. She said that was a huge release for my leg so to stay off it today. So I just did some weights and core exercises. She also did worked on my other leg a little since it has been compensating for so long. But legs are pretty fatigued from getting the works! I hope I feel great tomorrow running! | |

Could not fall asleep last night, finally around 1 or 2 I did then I kept waking up about every half hour, arrrggg! Got up and went and did an easy 9. Did laps around my neighborhood til it got a little lighter and then did a 5 mi loop. Was planning on doing only 8 but felt good and had time so I added another mile. I actually have to go in this morning to work for some patients that come from out of town and can only come fridays and then cub scouts this afternoon:)

Ran 7 with my gal pals and then added the rest on by my lonesome, it was one of those days where I needed someone for the whole time. Some days I dont mind being on my own, in fact its good to be able to clear your mind but today I was struggling mentally and just needed someone those last 8 miles to pass the time. My leg felt good so that was a plus but still dont feel like I can pick up the pace and take off, still some restriction/resistance present. I dont think I will be doing Ogden or Striders1/2.

Mike is out of town so my friend Nat went with me, she is only up for 5 mi, I was planning on getting up before hand and get some miles in prior but with day light savings I could not get up, so I am planning on going after work and getting some more in and some weights as well. Felt good today, no soreness or fatigue but then again we ran very slow today.
pm. ran 5.6 miles after work, worn tank and shorts, felt blahhh... stomach was a little crampy and both my toes next to my big toe always get blisters under the toenails after races with downhill and sometimes I can pop them but they are too far down and they were hurting on the run. (tomorrow I will have the dentist i work for take a little bur and drill through my toenail, he does it for me alot, it feels so good when that pressure gets released). Well at least i got my miles in!

Took it real nice and slow, i can tell I am pretty tight but I am going to run Spectrum 10k tomorrow and just take in stride. Setting no goals but will try my best if my leg will cooperate. I am excited to see a few of the bloggers tomorrow. I have an appointment with April immediately after the race (only time she could get me in , she will have to suffer with being post race stinky!) so I am going to run 5 miles before the race with my running group nice and slow (they arent running) and then hopefully if the race starts on time I can do 1-2 cool down miles after.

My leg felt pretty good, did a couple strides and then it started to get tight and heavy, so I was feeling a little worried. I even told my poor exhausted tax accountant husband not to come to the race because I wasnt going to being to pull off what I was hoping for.(he was very sad that he missed me coming in but came for the awards) Got changed into my race clothes and headed to the race.
Rode the bus up with Linda10k and then mingled with the other blogggers. We got up to the start line and I was scoping out my competition. At this point I knew if I could push hard that I could win it. My plan had been to run with Mike and Bill but at the gun I took off and suprisenly felt so good. I knew I had to bank the miles on the downhill cause I knew there was some uphill coming towards the middle and end. Man I just felt so good today. I kept passing guy after guy and was loving it! I have not felt like this for awhile and it just felt good to feel good and to feel like I had could keep pushing. I think doing 8-10 mi daily is helped because then 6 mi feels like nothing and I know I can push for 6 mi. At around mile 5 I had a spot where I could look behind me to see if there was any girls, I thought I saw one so I picked up the pace. (It ended not being a chick) The end was cool, all the guy bloggers were there cheering me on and helping me to push the last little bit. There also were alot of people I knew at the end that were yelling my name so that was kinda fun. My bishops wife was there to watch her son and daughter (her son was seconds behind me) but she got lots of pictures of me coming in and getting to break the tape:) Thanks again Steve for donating and sponsoring this race and all the others!!!!!! and to Mike for being a great running partner!
Splits were: (and I cant remember what happened at each mile like alot of you, I just zone out) 5:36, 6:22, 6:06, 6:29, 6:34, 6:39 and last .2 was 6:35 (? I stopped my garmin 10 sec late). avg pace 6:17
So overall I was very happy with this race, a 3 min PR and my leg felt good it is now a little tight but not as bad as I thought it would be. April got sick so I see her on Tues night. | |

| Feelin pretty good this morning, my abs are little sore. Can tell I havent pushed that hard for awhile. Goals this week are to hit 60 miles. I would like to get one quailty tempo run this week, crosstraining and 2-3 days of light weights. Also I am now considering the Utah Valley Marathon. | Taking today off. I will do an easy run tomorrow and then see April. I am pretty stinkin tight on my right leg today and calf has a pretty big knot and I can feel the muscle flinching. So I am takin break today and will do some weights and core later tonight. I am playing catch up today on all the stuff I did not get accomplished on saturday after the race. After racing I sometimes getting pretty queasy and lots of stomach cramping. Its not every time, but saturday I felt pretty crummy all afternoon but needless to say that did not stop me from downing a whole bag of mini cadbury eggs!!! So this week is going to be kinda of a recovery week for me instead. Only 6 today and most likely just 6 tomorrow. Thursday I will bump it back up and go from there. Ran with my group today. My friends husband who is 44 and just battled cancer 6 yrs ago just had 6 bypasses done on his heart last friday, so it has been a whirl wind for her the last few days. It was good run for her to just be able to talk and get her mind off all that is going on. | |

No running today because of my deep tissue last night, I was hoping I would be able to do an easy 6 even though she had told me not to run on it but my calf was so sore today I could bearly walk on it this morning. It feels so much better now. Did the elipitical for 30 min and then weights and core. I feel like the biggest blob this week from cutting my miles so drastically back but I know it will pay off in the long run. I am really been watching my diet so I dont gain weight this week. I plan on 9-10 mi tomorrow, friday and longer on sat. Pretty sure I am not going to run the Utah Valley Marathon now. I will not be ready for it and dont really want to spend the money to drive up there. |

| Ran with my friends Jamie, Trisha (they are twin sisters) and Trisha's huband Jeff (he is doing an iron man in 3 weeks). Ran out in the washington fields, havent ran out there for a long while but it was nice, and the company was great. I felt awesome and felt like I could go forever. We were in the 8-8:15's for most of the run and then Jeff and I kicked it in to the low 7's high 6's for the last 3.5 miles. It supposed to be 18 but ended up being a little short which was ok since i was on a sprint to the bathroom. Overall it was a great run and hope to get out with them more often. | |

So wasnt able to run today because of how dumb I am.... So my eye has been bothering for about 2 weeks now and I was not able to figure it out, I tried switching contacts, my medicated eye drops, taking my contacts out and nothing was helping. Well last night I finally figured it out, I had a contact stuck up high in my eye, I had put in a new pair about 2 weeks ago and did not remove the other one!!!! My eye was so sore this morning I could not get my contact in let alone hardly keep it open. So I missed my run today:( I hope I can get out later but it looks unlikely as of now. BTW my eye is starting feel much better and I NEED Lasik!!! | |

| Feelin good good good! I had a fantastic run today. I slept in and then headed out, weather was perfect. It was one of those days that my legs felt so fresh and i could have just kept going and going and going. I planned for 10 and ended up with 14, i just kept extending the route. I stopped my in laws to see the progress of the renovations they are doing in their house and it looks so great! Andee and Jody you will be amazed at it, not even the same house upstairs. Totally love it! Ended the run with some weights and core at home. My poor husband has just been exhausted this week, he took another section of the CPA exam on tuesday and then has been working like crazy. Well when I got home from my run (about 10 am) he was still in bed asleep!! He had fallen back to sleep when I left and never woke til I got home. He was so panicked! Did the ten miles route we did backwards and there are 2 spots to cut off a little so i did, I would have liked to done the full ten again but have a baby shower to get to. | Ok so my 10 miles a day starts tomorrow:) Its getting to where its lighter in the morning so I can do my boring laps and then head out and feel safer in the light. Today I just wanted to get back in bed and snuggle with my hubby since TAX SEASON IS OVER and i have not seen him very much lately, so thats my excuse for not going 10. I told myself i would go after work and finish it but that wind was awful today. So I dont know why some weeks I am so gungho (spell?) and others I drag myself out to get there. I love running and am a mess when i dont but I think its the fact that I dont have anyone waiting for me to show up some of the days (just when its early am). Days I dont work, no trouble at all, wouldnt even think of starting the day without my run. Gol sorry about my rambling. | So yesterday at work the bottam on my heel started to hurt really bad, not like plantars but the bone of the heel. I think it may be from my work tennis shoes that have about seen their day, it ached all night long and this morning when I got up it still really hurt. I decided to take today off and rest it. I wore my running shoes to work today which have my custom orthotics in them and that has helped some. It still hurts though. I am hoping it is just from my old shoes and not something more. I plan on running tomorrow. It just better go away fast! | |

| Had a fanstastic run today with the exception of some stomach issues. Tried to add in as many hills as possible since the half next week is pretty rollie. Had some good paced miles in with a 7:09, 6:58, 6:59, 7:03. Ran a huge hill with a very steep grade that was about quarter of mile if not more. I think I will use it to start training for wasatch back. Last year I did the "ragnar" leg which is 4 miles up very steep switchbacks on a dirt road.They talked about me running it again this year but I am not sure yet if I am. The hill today would help me get a little prepared if I am to run it and if not it would help me on some of the other good climbs in that race. Avg pace 7:29 and my legs felt pretty good. Foot was a little achy when I woke up but not on the run at all. I think I will go to April after the race next weekend. | |

Was supposed to meet up with the running club today but we went to the late show last night and then stayed up talking after and I just could not get up and then I thought I will most likely be running by myself anyways (I didnt feel like I would be able to even keep them in site today) so I guess I will just sleep in and go out later. I passed them in the middle of my run and talked to Steve H for a split second. It was Steve, Sasha (i was pretty sure it was sasha) and another guy i did not recognize. They were cruisin! I would have for sure been left in the dust. I had an ok run, the last 3 miles I felt like i was at the end of a marathon. Was planning on 15 but cut it short. Weather was perfect, not to hot or cold. Just right. avg pace 7:41

But mostly thrilled to get out of my low 1:30's rut and get back into the 1:20's hopefully I can forever stay away from the 1:30's!! Really wanted first place but saw Erica Shramm (smokin fast girl!) and knew I had no chance at first place. It kinda relieved me of the stress/pressure of trying to hold 1st place because I know she will be untouchable and she was, lost her about mile 1-2
Rode over with the Wildbull and Steve H (CONGRATS STEVE ON YOUR 1ST PLACE FINISH!!!!) . Got to the start and ran about a 1.5 miles to get my digestive system flowing, it helped! I have had stomach issues the past couple weeks and cant make it through a run without a pottybreak so was a little worried about today, i hate to lose time on a bathroom break! But I was good today. Started out on the front line with Bill, Dustin and Steve. There was another girl next to me that was bouncing around and stretching and looked like she might be some competition (and she was, she took 2nd). Here are my splits..
Mile 1: 6:22 felt good, they guys and Erica right in front of me. pretty flat
Mile 2 6:28 still feelin good, 2nd place girl starts coming up on me but I pull away, it feels like she is drafting off me. still flat
Mile 3 6:44 start to have some incline, 2nd place girl pulls in front of me and is hangin with bill, I just want to keep her close.
Mile 4: 7:09 have some uphill, starting to feel a little fatigue, 2nd place girl pulls farther ahead-get a little discourage. Just want to hold 3rd place.
Mile 5 7:06 about the same as mile 4
Mile 6: 7:18 starting to get lazy and too comfortable!!
Mile 7 7:30 What the heck!!! even though there was some uphill here, I really got lazy!!! At this mile another girl comes up to my side and recongize her from when she passed me at Painters and by golly I wont let that happen again! Pull away and get a second wind and motivation as we are about to hit some good downhill.Gave myself a good peptalk!
Mile 8:6:57 start into the downhill and I know this is where i can make up some time. Start letting my legs just go.
Mile 9 5:52 steep down and feel great and start chicking some guys! trying to catch up to Bill and 2nd place girl comes into view but I know she is too far away for me to catch and pass her, she is clipping along.
Mile 10 6:13 flattens out, i know at this point if i can keep 7 flat I can come in under 1:30. But I also realize there is a Long stretch on uphill coming.
Mile 11:6:54 starting on the incline and trying to keep focused
Mile 12 7:20 on the incline, I dont think I got lazy here-it seems like the icline goes forever. Looking back I think i could have pushed a little harder through here especially being so close to the finish.
Mile 13: 6:36Heading downtown to the finish. See Steve and he gives a cheer of encouragement. Should have pushed harder here too.
and last .10 was 26 sec.
Overall I am happy, although I can see where I slacked a little bit. I felt like I still had gas in the tank at the end, I need to seriously work on and let it hurt a little more throughout the whole race.The last time i did this race was in 2006 in 1:38 so huge PR on the course for me. My legs felt good and it was great to hang out the "the club"! Thanks Bill for giving me a ride over. I feel like these guys are my big brothers. They are always looking out for me!

| Ran 10 miles on the treadmill at the fitness center we are staying at in Vegas. Very nice fitness center. The treadmills were real smooth and had their own TV which was nice so I didnt have to crank my neck. They kept it very cool in there so I didnt get overheated like in some hotel gyms. I was the only one in there for a long time (I guess people in vegas on vacation dont get up early:). Ran first mile at 8 min mile and then bumped it to a 7:30, then took a potty break at 3 miles and then finished the run up at 7:30 pace, did some weights and then hopped on the elipitical for 25 min. I had to pay 10 bucks to use the fitness center so I figured I might as well get my moneys worth. While running could feel my quads were pretty tired and a little stiffness in my left IT band and then my right hamstring got a little tight towards the end of my run. Stretched really good. April worked on my on saturday after the race and worked some knots out. I crashed saturday and sunday night, I slept like a rock and feel asleep so early both nights. We walked a ton yesterday and will be walking around a lot today (SHOPPING and eating:)!! | |

| Ran 10 miles again on the treadmill at the hotel gym, then some ab work. Running on the TM is not something I would like to make a regular habit. I just didnt want to be running down the strip!But good thing was that I ended up not having to pay for either days to use the fitness center because the pool was under construction so they gave free access to the FC. My right hamstring and calf were a little tight to start, had to stop and stretch a few times but they got loosened up quickly, however now my calf is not feeling the greatest right now. I will work on it with ice, the stick and stretching tonight. Started out with a 8 min mile and then ran the next 8 mi at a 7:30 and then finished the last mile at a 6:30 pace. Got registered for hobblecreek!Got a cute new running outfit, a new pair of tennie shoes for work (yeah!) and my favorite purchase of all was a garlic press! I have wanted one for awhile but just never bought one even though they are pretty cheap but I finally got one so no more trying mince garlic with knife. Oh I almost forgot I did stop at Trader Joes on the way home and stocked me up on dried pineapple, my favorite treat! Glad to be home now and excited to run outdoors tomorrow. | |

Met my friend Peg to run 5.5 miles and then added on 9 after. My legs were tired just running to the corner to meet my friend. I was so tired the whole run, my legs felt like I was at the end of a marathon. Got a horrible side stitch about 11 miles into the run, Had to stop and walk it out. I am just glad I made it and didnt cut my run short like I was thinking I wanted to the whole time. And holy moly I think I swallowed a swarm of knats, they were all over the place today! | Ran 9 down the marathon course with some friends and added on some more. Felt pretty good. I havent been on the course in long time (I have been trying to avoid the downhill) but it was nice to be on it. Its one of my favorite runs.My foot is a little sore now. Hit snooze once and then my alarm never went off again. Ran out the door in a panic, didnt have time to stretch or grab my garmin, had intentions of going ten but only had time for 8 and that was pushing it. Felt crappy today, stomach was a mess, and body felt blahhhhhh! So glad I didnt sleep all the way through! Foot felt good yesterday but again after my run this morning it now hurts again. Frustrating but as along as it doesnt hurt when i run, I can deal with it.

Was out late last night watching my hubby play baseball ,some guys from his softball game played against the Roadrunners (the professional baseball team in SG) and oh I badly i wanted to sleep in but I prevailed and met my running group. Wow what a run, wind, rain, cold and THREE pottybreaks in the first 4 miles. I was about ready to quit and shortcut it home but I talked myself out of it, thank goodness for the blog or I probabaly would have. | Since the weather is pretty cool outside I was able to sleep in a little later and then headed out. Did an out and back run, so 9 out and 9 back. Pretty boring but oh well. My left hip got some sharp pain around mile 10 and had to stop and stretch. Its has done it before but not for a couple years. Feels like its catching and it needs to pop. Went away after stretching. Felt rather sluggish on this run, ate too much last night and paid for it this morning! Forgot to blog my goals for the week yesterday. So this week I want to hit again min.60 miles and on tues/thurs I need to get up earlier and get a few extra miles in (3.5)before I meet my group, and get one hard/fast run in either wed or friday, oh yes I want to incorporate some hill repeats one day as well.

Yeahhhh! Had an awesome run today cuz I got to run with Ruth for 6 of it. I wish she was going to be here all summer so I could run with her a reg basis but she is going to have a blast in Somoa. So ran 6 with Ruth a mod pace and then i added on, I was cutting it close on time so had to push towards the end, had a 7:14, 7:07, and 7:06. Had lots of uphill on todays run. Felt great, lots of energy and a beautiful morning, wore a long sleeve today.

Ran with the club, Steve H, Wildbull, Holt and Logan. They were just taking it easy today so I was able to hang with them without blowing a lung. Ran about the first 7 with them and then add to stop to use the bathroom and was there for awhile, thankfully I brought my ipod so I was able to have some music while I climbed up Snow Canyon. I absolutely love this run. My legs felt awesome and I really felt I was moving up it at a pretty good pace. Got to the top and started down the marathon course and I could see the guys up ahead and I felt great so I made a run at it to try to catch them, just as I was really starting to close the gap (mile 14) I had to stop for the bathroom again, but this time I had to trek off into the back country to find a spot where I could have some privacy. After that I stop I slowed down a little, starting to feel sick to my stomach, and i think i was dehydrated too. I was very happy with todays run, my legs felt incredibly fresh! (6:52,7:13,7:12, 6:36, 7:17, 7:14, 7:12) these were some of my faster miles, the last 7 of the run.

Got up earlier (whoohoo!) and got four miles in before meeting up with my friend heidi for our usually run. Legs felt trashed on the first 4 (pushed the pace a little to get all 4 in), I did squats and lunged last night and today they were feeling the effects. On the next six we took it really easy, my friend was not feeling well, so that was very nice. Signed up for the Speedster 10k on sat. So hopefully my legs feel a little better by then. Still planning on a little longer run tomorrow, even though its the day before a race but I mostly am running it to just get a good tempo in. Oh and today I had to wear a long sleee shirt, it was cold and windy. Crazy how the weather can change so fast!

Oh what a morning! I woke up in a horrible mood and really did not want to go run a race. Ask my hubby, I was a just little onry this morning (poor guy he puts up with alot!).
But anyways I ran to the race start, passed Dave Holt on the way and ran some with him before the race. I did 4.18 miles to warmup and the whole time I am thinking "how in the world am I going to run any faster than what I am going right now!" which was around an 8min/mile. My legs were so tired and felt trashed. Started the race, it was a double out and back-it was a challenging course mentally and physically. It was fairly flat with some some rollers on the trail and it was pretty warm. My garmin ended up measuring long, along with everyone elses. Measured 6.43 mi's. I defintely did not push myself as hard as i could have. I had no other girls around me and I lost motivation and my legs were jello. I am kinda embarressed of my time but its my own fault for not being tougher out there. It was fun to see Logan, Steve, Clyde and Bill helping with the race. It was definetely stranger to not see them running in the race. Thank you for all your help with the race guys and for not letting us get lost on the course!

| The Wildbull was so nice and met me at 4:30 this morning so I could get a long run in before flying out to Dallas to stay with my sister. I owe him big time! THanks Bill! Felt very fatigue for the first 9 mi, granted 5 mi of it was up Snow Canyon. I struggled bad today, although looking at my pace up the canyon it wasnt really that slow for me, but it sure felt like it. Then at the top and coming down the marathon course I got a HORRIBLE pain/cramp/side stitch and i could bearly move. It took so much focus and concentration to just finish. (and I HAD to be back by a certain time, so that didnt help the situation.) IT hurt so bad at times it would literally take my breath away and I would feel like I was going to throw up. I have never ever had a side stitch/cramp hurt that bad. I have never been happier to finish a run. Glad its done but now I feel not so hot.... | Got into Dallas and to my sisters very late last night. Didnt get to bed til well after midnight and I knew I had to get up early and get out running because the LOW here is 78-79 degrees and humid. Was worried that i would be way to tired to get up and get going and i didnt want to have to run on the treadmill. I didnt sleep very well and woke up before 7am here, got ready and headed out. HOT, HUMID and WINDY! Wanted to just run 5 out and 5 back, but the road i went out on hit a freeway intersection about mile 2.5, so I started turning and running out and then would head back to the same road i started on. Its always fun to run in new areas! Legs were DEAD today!!!! (combination of long run yesterday and little sleep). I will have to go a little eaIrlier tomorrow to try to beat the heat. My sisters neighbor told me a route that I could run that I could hook onto a trail that ran along the road and i could go out 5 and come back 5. So last night we clocked it up to the walmart and it was 4.4 so I knew I needed to just run a little further down the trail. So glad we clocked it because I must not have turned my garmin off yesterday and so it was dead this morning. I took my cell phone so I would have a clock and then when I got to walmart I ran for approx 8-9min so I would get another mile and then turned around. I will run it tomorrow and make adjustments to my mi's if its off any. So MUGGY and a headwind the whole way back, ugghhhh! Its nice not to have stress about time though and having to get back to get to work. Legs were still pretty dead today, went to bed super late again and woke up with a sore throat on monday and its still pretty sore today.Been dosing up on the emergen "c" all week!!! | |

So my run yesterday ended up being a tiny bit longer than I thought. I always like when ends up being longer than shorter. And I can I just say how bad I HATE the weather here!! If i had to run in humidity everyday I think I might just quit. I had ambitions of trying to do a 3 mi tempo run today because there are some flat areas but it was so muggy and hot this morning there was no way. I felt so suffocated!! My shorts/shirt were soaking wet after my run. But I do have a nice little tan going:) Even going a little earlier does not help. Right now I am so thankful for the blog and the whole different mindset I have as far as running goes because a year ago I would have really cut my run short or just went to the gym with my sis and got on the elipitical. And today I was thankful for the wind when it would come up because it would at least give me some fresh air and cool me off at times.

ANother muggy run but by far the least warm and muggy since I have been here. Passesd about 50 runners on the trail. I guess there is a store here called Lukes Locker and they set up runs on sat mornings and you can go certain distances depending on how far you need to go for your training. They had jugs of water and powerade set up for the group. Next time I come here to visit I will have hook up with them on sat. It looked like they had every level of runner. Sore throat is still present, went to bed a lot earlier last night then the past 5 and tomorrow i can sleep in.

Got to SG about 1am and was able to sleep in a little since I didnt have to be to work til 11:30, so got out about 8am. I love the dry heat vs humidity. Felt exhausted today. I am sunburned so my tank top was driving me crazy and just felt uncomfortable.

So mad about yesterday. I must have been exhausted because I slept right through my alarm clock. I use my cell phone on vibrate for my alarm (I usually wake up before it goes off on my own) but somehow it got knocked off my dresser and I didnt even hear it! Had toomany things going on last night to make it out. So a very unintentional and not wanted goose egg for me on tues.
Anyways today was pretty nice morning. Right quad was very tight, no pain just felt very stiff. Legs still pretty tired, not fresh feeling at all. Probably wont hit 60 this week but thats ok I think I need a lower mileage week and then go back up next week. Need to get into April next week as well. | |

First Leg Avons Pass 7.4 mi Very Hard (what a beast). Avg pace for this run was 8:21 and time 1:00:33-gps measured short at 7.24. I dont know if I lost signal for a little bit or if the leg was short. Felt great on this run, and was pumped up. Passed about a dozen runners. Was warm but nothing compared to the humidity I ran in last week in Dallas. Very dusty-took about a whole pack of baby wipes to clean the dirt off me. Splits were 7:20, 7:46, 8:11, 8:19, 8:30, 8:39, 9:40 and last .24 took 2:01 min. Got slower and slower but was climbing and climbing.
Second Leg(17) 5.9Moderate Started this leg about 9pm so the weather was perfect! Felt awesome on this run and the scenery was gorgeous. Passed another dozen or more runners. Avg pace was 7:22 and time was 44:17, it felt so much faster when I was running but I think my legs were getting worn out. Splits 7:06, 7:25, 7:18, 7:16, 7:29, 7:39. After this went to Rockport and tried to sleep, got about one hour of restless sleep. One of the girls in our van got really sick to her stomach and asked me to maybe switch our last legs. (she was runner 1). So I couldnt fall asleep afraid that we would miss the boys phone call and I would have to just jump up and run.
Had lots of laughs and a great time, I really have the best team!!!!

Van 1 Runner 5 (Corporate Coed Division)
3rd leg 5.6 mi (Hard but didnt feel like it), one of the girls got very sick to stomach, so we switched our last legs so she would have more time to recover and would have an easier run. She was runner 1. Felt crappy on this run, had bad side stitches from the start that never went away. Man I am getting alot of these lately and my abs stayed sore from it all saturday and sunday! avg pace was 8:10
Then i ran the last leg of van 1 with my teamate to get a few extra miles, wanted to do 5 more so I would hit 60 mi but i was DONE.
After this we went to one of the girls cabins in Midway and showered and then went to the finish line, saw FRB blue team at the finish and talked to Dustin and Steve for awhile. My team ran in and then both FRB teams were right behind us (obvisoulsley they started way after us). It was fun to see them all even though I just gave most a quick smile and wave before I took off to head back to Jodys to sleep. Had to get some gas in park city and I saw this all nautral frozen yogurt shop. You filled up your own and then they charged you by the ounce. Didnt really look at the price per ounce. So I just filled up a small cup and it was SEVEN dollars. Good thing I was really too tired to care and it tasted so dang good!! Fell asleep in the car ride home and then slept for about 3 hours at Jodys. Showered again and got ready and then went to Cafe Rio and it tasted so good! (after eating Peanut butter and honey sandwiches, almonds and fruits) Felt good to get some substance in me. Then got chocolate licorice and ate alot of it! Yummm!
So sad its over for another year!

So I am at work and still have not had time to add to my race report and I did not get my run in this morning. You could have not paid me to get out of bed to run this morning.I feel hashed, my eyes are so tired they hurt!I didnt nap at all yesterday and slept horrible sat and sunday night. The past 2 weeks have really caught up with me. I will get to bed early tonight and be back at it tomorrow. Legs are not sore or tired from this weekend so thats good but feel a little twinge in my hamstring. Plan on hitting over 60 mi this week.
I did get my house scrubbed down tonight after not being home much over the past 2 weeks! That felt much better than getting a run in today! | |

I wish I didnt have to go to work today so I could just crawl back into bed. Felt like I was still asleep the first couple miles. Legs felt very tired today and my leg is still feeling pretty tight. (getting deep tissue on sat). 2 bathroom breaks was the only eventful thing that happened. avg pace 7:45

I was a bad bad girl yesterday and didnt run. I know its two times in a week but I really felt like my body needed the rest, feeling a little burned out.
TOday was great, my bestest running friend (started running with her 10 yrs ago and ran my first marathon with her too) Cheri came and ran with me. She got mono 3 weeks before SG marathon last year and then got another flareup in January. She is finally feeling good enough to come and run with me. SHe did great, we had a great pace and it was so good to run with her. SHe tells the greatest stories and we have had some crazy race experiences together. I am so glad she will be able to train with me for SG. I cant imagine SG marathon training with out her. This truly made my week after feeling so crappy all week.
Ran 1.10 miles on my own and then 5.3 with CHeri and then 8.10 on my own. Right leg is still pretty tight, I hate when it feels like this but see April tomorrow and then I am determined to have an awesome running week next week!

Ran with Bill, Dave, Logan and Hayden...well....more like I ran behind them the whole time. Good thing I took my ipod along:) Drove out to Utah hill and drove 10 miles down. We ran up Utah Hill for 10 miles (well I turned around a quarter mile early cuz dave brought my water with him and so there was no reason for my to run the last quarter mile) This was a tough run...as I was trudging along I told myself you can turn around at 8 miles and then I got thinking and I told myself no you can turn around at 9 cuz 18 is much better number than 16 and then when I got to 9 I said no way I have to go all the way cuz i need my water or i will die out here. That is a tough climb!!! Going down felt like heaven and I was so proud of seeing what I had just ran up! I have never ran up it, only down.
Here are my miles coming down, felt awesome, just very hot! 6:23, 6:41, 6:35, 6:31, 6:44, 6:47, 7:00, 7:11, 7:10- started to get pretty tired towards the end. But a good tempo for me. Saw April after and she worked out some good knots in my quad, hamstring and calf. My right quad going up the hill was burning so bad and i felt like I was dragging it along. Note to self I cant go 2 months btween massages.

This is for my own personal benefit, but I am going to try blogging what I eat so I can better track what I eat and how it makes me feel with my running. I try to keep track at home with writing it down but it makes more sense to just have it incorporated with my running blog. I do eat alot of the same things esp. breakfast and lunch. Was supposed to meet up with the club but got nervous with my leg giving me issues this week that I was worried about doing 20 so I slept in til 7 and then went out with my ipod and ran a big loop through ivins and santa clara. Got pretty warm but passed a couple parks and got some nice hot water out of the drinking fountain (but did sneak into red mountain spa and get a nice cold drink from their clubhouse). Was glad I didnt head out with the club because I was so sluggish today and my leg felt not so great, had to stop and stretch alot. avg 8:00

Met Logan, Dave and James at 5am to do a 20 miler down the marathon course. I really really wanted to go 20 cuz I love long runs down the course but when it came down to it I asked them to drop me off at 12. My quad has been so tight the last week that I got nervous about all the downhill on it and with Bryce coming up I dont want to throw myself under the bus. I ended up adding a little at the end but was glad I opted for going shorter. I felt great besides my leg (which really doesnt hurt just feels very constricted on my stride). Had to stop 3 times for VPB. During the run I started to invision SG marathon and putting the times together in my head and where I needed to be at certain miles. Got me very excited! I love this time of year when everyone that runs parks their car at the church or finish line and drives up and runs on the course. There are always so many runners out and just fun to see everyone out training for it. After I was done I rolled my leg with the stick and hurried to shower and get back to the store to see if I could drive logan back to his car but they had already gotten there and gone back up.

Met Mike, Bruce and the Wildbull at the Running store this morning. I had a very rough start getting going. Super fatigued and felt like my legs were full of lead. I have had a bad sore throat for over a week now and I dont know if that is making me so stinkin tired lately. Bill dragged me along to add three more so I could get 10 in today. So nice to have people to run with!

Met up with Bill for a good run. Nice to get a change of scenery and run a different course. Felt better today than monday. (I had an appt for sat with april but moved it to today after work.) Very tight to start, loosened up and then started to tighten again around mile 7. I feel like I am dragging my right leg along. I hope we can get it worked out today so that I will be ready for Bryce next week and feel like i can get some speed on it.
Last night Garrett and I went out for his first run. Did a 2.5 mi loop. Ran a mile then walked 1/2mi, ran 1/2mi, walked 1/2 mi and then finished up with running. He did awesome for his first run, we kept the pace really easy. Defintely warmer at night! | |

I am a loser! First I was going to meet Mike to run and then some friends that I have not ran with for awhile called and wanted me to come run 14 with them over in the fields he was nice and told me to go with them. Well then I totally bailed on them too! I was glued to my bed and slept for 2 more hours and got up and ran own. Company is so much better and I missed out on it because I was to tired to get up. Sorry guys! But that extra sleep did feel so good! Took it very easy today. My quad feels tons better but my calf is still alittle balled up, doesnt hurt running but after it tightens up pretty good, been stretching ALOT! With Bryce coming up and my leg not feeling 100%, Its starting to get to my head and getting a little worked up about it.

So I am way excited to write this race report. A 2 minute PR, a 5 minute course PR, 1st overall womens and I am $500.00 dollars richer!!
So my goal going into this race was 1:25. I knew I wanted to run the first 2 miles around 6:30 (which is flat and slight incline) because then you drop into some steep downhill and I knew I could let gravity take me and recover from a fast start. I wanted to get those downhill miles around 5:45 to bank some time so when the flat and rollers came I could have a little edge room. Everything worked out fairly well.

9.6:52 a guy passes me here and I ask him where the next girl behind me is and he tells me the last he saw a girl was at mile 4. He says the next runners behind are a quarter mile back and there is no girls. I dont know if I should have asked because I relaxed and think I may have slowed down but I am not sure if I was getting tired or more at ease with my position. BTW he was the only guy that passed me and stayed passed me, 3 or 4 others did but I ended up chicking them all back.

| Takin the day off today. I am so sore, I thought I might get up and run a few easy miles but slept horrible last night, my legs were so restless. Also where my sports bra hits I sometimes get little sores, well after the race no troubles ( I had put a bandaid and vaselined good) but when I woke up sunday morning I had a huge rash and my lymphnoid under my armpit was really sore. My friends husband is a PA at a dermatolgists office so he had me come up and look at it last night because benadryl did not help it (I am allergic to some bandaids). Well there is infection, so he got me started on some creme and antibiotic. Its started to go down a little. But no chance I could put my sportsbra on this morning to run, so that really forced me to take the day off. I should be good to go tomorrow. I am going to April also tomorrow to get my calves worked on before they cause everything else to hurt. | |

Ouch! Although I felt better then I thought I would. Wish I would have woken up earlier to get a few extra in but I am being cautious and want to make sure I get fully recovered from the weekend. Get massaged tonight and may run a few slow miles after. Plan on running easy 8 tomorrow and then start increasing mileage back up through the weekend. Felt little twinges all over today. no watch.

Oh felt so much better today! No aches, pains or twinges..most the the soreness is gone just mainly felt some fatigue in legs but felt better the further we got into the run. Ran with Cheri and Jeff and just took it easy. Did the same route that the wildbull and I have ran the past couple weeks. Added on 1.5 mi at the end. The last little bit was from main st down to 300s and to the marathon finish. Got me super excited as I visualized me coming in!

Rode down to vegas yesterday to take my brother in law and his wife to the airport. Got home pretty late (for me:) and was super tired this morning. Didnt make it out til about 7:15, thats just too late to get started in the summer. Warmed up pretty fast but not too bad, the sun just gets in my eyes (and I hate running with sunglasses). We stopped at Trader Joes and got my favorite dried pineapple rings and ate some on the car ride home (late) and needless to say all that fiber gave me some tummy trouble this morning. Had a couple pit stops (good thing my sis in law was awake when I pounded on her door bright and early to use their bathroom!). All in all was a good run, hamstring started out a little tight but warmed up. Yesterday I could feel it throughout the day. Planning on running with the club tomorrow and getting some tempo miles in.

Amazing how you can feel so dang good one week and the next feel so crappy! Had a very tough run today. Ran down the marathon course with club (well behind them). All of us ran together for the first 3 and then it was me, james and dustin. I stopped for a potty break around6 and from then one I was a lone ranger. Got a horrible cramp on the right side of my stomach that would not budge! Oh I was hoping someone I knew would drive by and pick me up, good thing I dont carry a cell phone cuz i for sure would have called my hubby to come and get me. Saw some girls I know and stopped and walked with them for about 5 min and then headed on again. I am so glad I finished and i did not die (because I thought I might at times j/k : )

Ran with cheri and Jeff, (we took off and left Bill, he was in the parkinglot but I thought maybe he had slept in, sorry Wildbull!) My right leg felt tight and tired today, did squats and lunges the other night and had not done them for a couple weeks, so I think that was the culprit of todays tired legs. Ran just a steady pace, not too fast not too slow. I really need to do start doing more consistent tempo runs.SG is only 2 months away!!!!

Went to meet my friend early but on the way there got a text saying she would not be making it so went home and waited til it got a little bit light outside and then headed out. Felt pretty good today, had some good hills in todays run and my leg felt pretty good as well. Pushed the pace in a few sections but wanted to be careful to not over do it with my leg tightning up a little this week. Tomorrow going long and if I dont get a killer cramp again like last week I hope to really push it from diamond valley to the church.

Ran with Cheri and Marissa. My kind and lovin' husband was so nice to get up at a quarter to 5 and drive us up the course so we would not have to go back and get a car! What a sweetie! We took the first bit pretty easy and just enjoyed some chit chat and talking about years past of marathon training. It now feels like official SG marathon training to me running with those 2 gals! Yeah! Plus the "true church" (our nickname for it) where everyone meets to go up the course was jammin with people today. Tons of runners on the course. Marissa ran just 10 with us. At our 12 mil water stop cheri drank some accelerade (she thinks it was old and bad ) and it made her very sick so about SC I took off to run to go get the car and come back (she ended up throwing up and felt much better and high tailed it in) . Here are my splits 6:55, 6:51, 6:58, 6:25, 6:24, 6:39, 6:43. I was really hoping to get a few sub 6 but I will try for that next week.We drove up 22 but then I felt good I ended up running home which added 1.5 extra miles and I just took it pretty easy. It was pretty muggy out and I have been guzzling water since I got back. Now I am off to go pick up my pre ordered copy of BREAKING DAWN and I will be reading the rest of the day. SO SO EXCITED for this book!!!!!

So I was a super slacker this morning and totally bailed on my friend Cheri! I slept horrible (stupid restless legs I get) and 4:30 came way too early today. So I punished myself my heading straight to my in-laws basement right after work to run on their treadmill. It was very hot and stuffy, my shins were hurting and I couldnt get their TV to work so my entertainment was staring into a closet looking at Jody's wedding dress (I think it was your dress jody). Super exciting huh? I only made it 5 miles. I then came home ate some dinner, did my weights, watched some of the olympics and then about 8:30 headed back out for a 6.7 mi run. I felt fantastic on the run and it really wasnt too hot. So glad I got it done but it sure would have been easier if I just would have gone this morning and then just taken a short power nap after work. Live and learn I guess...

Had a great run with Ruth, Cheri and Marissa. My father-in-law drove us up (how nice, huh?) I wasnt paying attention and had him drop us off a mile early so I had to add on at the end but that wasnt too bad. Beautiful morning. Ran in the low eights for the first 10 and then in the low sevens for the second half. Just took it nice and easy! That crazy girl Ruth got home from Somoa at 2 or 3 this morning and just pulled an all nighter and then came and ran. That was also after about 10 hours of flying time and a 10 hour layover. She is INSANE!! Thanks Ruth for coming it was so fun to see and run with you again!

Ran easy miles with Mike. Going to keep it really easy this week. Plan on running 8 the rest of the week with hitting a couple faster miles on wed's run. and then probably only 6 on friday in prep for the half this weekend. If anyone thinks i should be doing anything different PLEASE let me know. My leg feels great, saw April on sat and she worked my hamstrings good. She thinks it was from running on the TM last monday. I mentioned to her about this weird pain when I have been doing my core work (in my lower abs). One of my deep hip flexors muscles was strained a little. I need to be stretching my abs after I work them. But in working on that she asked me if I can get side stitches alot and I told her in the past 3 ms I had gotten 3 really bad ones. She said my diaphram was very very tight and I had some knots that built up in my abs. So she worked those and she said it would make a difference in my breathing. Yeahhh! She showed me how to massage my diaphram myself and keep it loosened up, Had no idea you could massage the diaphram!

Ran with my buddies Mike, Bull and Jeff. Took it easy til we hit the Dixie center trail system (Painters course) and then I decided I was feeling good and would throw some tempo miles in and I would go til I hit the end of the trails on river road. Bull came right along with me and Mike and Jeff not too far behind. 6:32, 6:36, 6:45. Cooled off running up river road. Hunfg back and chatted with Jeff and then Bull added on a section and I went to catch up to him (6:55) . Felt great today, will take it very easy tomorrow and friday so I have fresh legs for Sat. Did my first ice bath today, I dont know why I have never done these but my muscles feel so good now. I am going to start doing these as much as I can, hopefully I can do them at least 2xduring the week and for sure after sat long runs. Also going back to April after work for a mini session to just make sure that hamstring is ready to go!

Easy run with mike. Excited for tomorrow, excited to see everyone, not excited for the drive up! Have a goal time in my head. Hope the stars align again and have a great race. My hammy has been acting up a little this week so if I start feeling it bad tomorrow I may back off, too close to my goal race of SG to pull something. But I am sure it will cooperate! Did an ice bath but was not cold enough (I just dump my whole ice box in) I will have to pick up a couple bags of ice to keep on hand.

Goal was 1:22 and to place in the Top5 Women. Didnt quite make it there, stomach cramped bad at mile 2 and mile 7 or 8 I had to stop and take a VERY visible potty break (just ask Tom!!) Two girls passed me on that break I was never able to catch, felt pretty nausious the rest of the race. Overall though I am happy with my performance today, esp considering not feeling too hot. I just hope I dont get a crummy tummy like for SG. Hey but my hamstring felt good (thanks to jody scraping it for me!) so I am very happy with that. I had fun talking with lots of bloggers!!! and hanging out with my sister-in-law Jody. My splits are messed up because my garmin kept losing signal through the canyon.

Ran with Mike and Bill. Did our usual friday loop from the running store. Took my leg about 7.5 mi to warm and to feel decent. Until then I counting down the miles til the run would be over. Its just not fun to run when part of your body is bothering you. I didnt run yesterday, my leg just felt not very good and my foot kept going numb at work. Ya know my hamstring/calf and qaud always gets tight but there is never any pain involved, my hamstring now has pain involved and that has me worried so until the marathon I am going to be very conservative and cautious. My base is there and its too close to not to be careful! ( I see April tomorrow, so hopefully that will help) I dont want my mileage to suffer to bad over the next 3 weeks but I am going to be careful if my leg is still acting up.

Met up with a bunch of people at the park and drove up 23 miles (ended up that Mike drove a little further up) My friend marissa drove up 3or 4 miles and then hopped in with us. We dropped most everyone off along the way so it was just mike, dustin, marissa and myself. Ran all together for the first 4 or 5 miles then marissa and I dropped back. At diamond valley we ran into a friend and ran with her a little bit and then I asked marissa if she would care if I ran ahead. I could see dustin and tried to catch him but just didnt have the steam to do it (plus he was moving pretty rapidly). Had a couple visible bathroom breaks (I am getting good at those! hope it doesnt become to regular of a thing, my husband would be mortified if he knew of this, he still cant believe I can just squat behind a bush!) SORRY for all the details!
Just took it easy the rest of the way in to the park, my leg felt ok today, no pain, just tightness. I know I am running differently to compensate because the pad of my foot right below my toes felt like it was smacking the ground today and started to get achy, never had that before.

Slept in til 7 and then headed out (oh that felt so good!) Did one of my reg 10 mile routes and then added on some hill repeats. Didnt push to hard on them since my legs are still a little tired from saturday. Good news is that my hamstring felt so dang good today! So I saw April on saturday and they were very tight but she said it emotional stress. That there were no real knots in them. I asked her how she could tell the difference and she said that no matter how much she pushes on them they just wont let go and it feels different. She said I needed to relax and my legs/muscles would relax too. I was so happy to hear that! I think I have just been freaking out whenever I feel it get tight and then I get stressed about it and probably make it worse. So I working on relaxing and not stressing about the marathon. (easier said then done:)

Was able to carry on conversation the whole run. Kept thinking the whole run I really ougt to push a little harder today. Thought our avg pace was going to be so slow, ended up being 7:05 and had 4 miles right around my marathon goal pace, so I was very happy with todays run because I was not putting alot of effort into it and there was alot of uphill, and I had tired legs from running late last night.

Today I couldnt tell if those two were pushing the pace today or if my legs were just pretty tired. Didnt get our avg pace, stopped garmin at a potty break and failed to start it again. Tomorrow could be a long 20 miler. Dont plan on racing it but want a dang good workout from it.

Ran the Trails 20 miler. Small race but very well organized and ran smoothly. Rode the bus up with JamesH and Dustin. Didnt really have a "real " plan for this race, told Dustin I wanted to run half easy and half at marathon pace. I told him I would hope to be in by 2:30. My marathon miles are kinda scattered all over the run, not what I planned. I got a little lazy in this run. I was all by my lonesome the whole race and ended up not really pushing the last half. I just got comfortable and enjoyed the scenery and let my mind wander to the marathon. Had plenty of steam at the end and could have kept going. The course was pretty rolling hills and the last 2-3 miles you are climbing alot. So this run was a good confidence booster for SG.
Ran this race in Saucony racing flats and loved them! Felt so light on my feet. My leg felt good. My quad was a little tight the first couple miles but that went away. Ran a cool down .75 mi with Bill and Mike. 15 ice bath after.

Ran with Mike and Bull AKA "the bermuda triangle". Had a great run. Started out with a warm up mile and then some very good marathon paced miles. Finished off with some easy miles, I fell a little behind, had to find a bathroom stop. So besides that I was very happy with todays run. Leg felt great (whoohoo, knock on wood it stays that way)! Afterwards we sang happy birthday to bill's robin on her voicemail. May go back out tonight and add a few more miles but we will see, after work I am always so tired from getting up so early. I think I may sleep in for a week after the marathon:)

This is the third time I have had to type this....argggg..
Ran with Bull and Mike, they were kind to go long with me today since I have cub scout day camp tomorrow and even with going extra early I will only be able to get 12-13 mi in. Thanks guys. We ran a pretty tough route today. Ran from my house up to SC Parkway (2 mi uphill) and then down the parkway 4 mi (gradual uphill) and then up through SC state park and thats a 5 mi of steep uphill, its a killer but an awesome workout. Then finally we got to go down the marathon course and back to my house. I got a side stitch around winchester and had to slow down to breath it out, finally went away but just kept the pace pretty easy and coasted in with the Wildbull. I think I got the side stitch because Mike and Bull had me laughing so hard the whole time and it made it hard to breath. Awesome run today and great training!

| Got up super early and my father in law drove us up the course 23, I parked my car 11 miles up and then just ran to my car. Had to get back for cub scout day camp. So glad that is over with!!! Yesterday I ran the last section of the marathon and today we started close to the start and ran just past the dammeron valley hills, had to push hard the last 3 mi as I looked at my watch and realized I was running behind when i needed to be home by. Legs were a little tired from yesterdays long run but body felt really good today. | |

Wow only 3 weeks left! I have been eating really well lately, no refined sugar or anything processed. Except on sat nights I do treat myself to a frozen yogurt and last night I added in a small bag of capt. crunch cereal to snack on . I feel so much better when I eat good. Ran with the Bermuda Triangle. Really struggled to get out of bed this morning but so glad I did. Had a great run, felt good and it was the prefect temp. The end of our run we came down 300 s off of main street and I pretended it was marathon day and pushed hard to the finish line.

But I finally made myself go after getting up, getting back in bed, finally getting dressed, sitting the garage for awhile deciding if I should just go crawl back in bed, driving to the rec center and almost driving away before anyone showed up. Needless to say I kinda wimped out on my speedwork. Was planning on running marathon pace from trail to trail (about 4 miles) ended up with only one and then just chatted easy with Jeff. He comes wanting to do speed and the weeks he does come, I am a wimp!. Today I am just glad I ran after the battle i had to get there.

Wow had an AWESOME run today! We started out by sleeping in and not meeting til 6am this did my body good, I woke up bright eyed about 5:15 and felt good and not the groggy oh my body hurts feeling like I do when I have to get up in the 4's.
Mikes wife drove us up from the finish line a little over 14 miles. (tom and kim lee came today, it was fun to see and chat with you two on the way up!) Warmed up the first 2 miles and then I wanted to hit under marathon pace knowing that when I get to this point in the marathon my body would already be feeling tired. What a run!I I felt amazing, I wish today would have been the marathon. The only thing that bothered me is I have worn custom orthotics for the past 6 ys and I just got a new pair for after the marathon but decided to try them today, they felt great except I rubbed a blister on the bottam on my foot just because they obvioulsey are not broken in. It helped my legs and hips though feel better. I dont think I will wear them for the marathon though, we will see if i cant bulid a calus there in 2 weeks. Here are my splits

AVG PACE 6:32 I felt so good and I had energy at the end, my legs or any part of my body did not get the sore heavy tired feeling. I felt like I could have kept going at that pace. I hope I feel like that in 2 weeks! I needed this run today to get the runners high and excitement back!

Somehow missed my alarm this morning and missed my run with the Bermuda Triangle:( Once I woke up and realized I wouldnt make it to run with them I decided to stay in bed and sleep in since I didnt have the greatest nights rest (I hate sunday nights, I never sleep good!).
Went out about 7:30 tonight and way too soon after eating dinner, legs felt great but stomach felt heavy and kept getting aches and pains in my guts. yuck!

| Taking the day off, yesterday the blister that I rubbed last saturday, the top layer of skin that was starting to get tough all ripped off and now its just the raw skin. It was just too tender! Not good timing, feeling a little (ok alot) of anxiety over it, i hope it heals fast. My foot feels a little swollen and sore. Thinking it was from running funny after I felt the skin tear off. | Wow I am getting alot more taper this week than I thought, wont complain about that though. Was supposed to meet bull to run but he showed up a half hour early (who does that, shows up too early:) So I had some friends that were running 6 mi so I hurried down and they were just about to leave so i was able to run some easy miles and then added on 2 more. My foot was still tender, been experimenting with different bandages. I think I bought 30 dollars were of every kind of bandaid and bandage there is. Tomorrow I will try to add on more than I thought after swiss days. Dont even know what to expect on time tomorrow, I have NEVER ran a 5k!! I hope to be high 18 or low 19. I cant believe a week from today I will be getting ready to go pick up my number at the Expo!!! Started to get butterflies yesterday! | |

Wow a 5k is tougher than I thought! I think I like the longer distances better. Met Dustin and some others for a warmup, ran the course. Very very flat, very honest! Saw Erica at the start and she is speedy speedy so I knew my shot of 1st was out the window.
1. 6:14 (had a hard time getting my breathing in sync)
2. 6:15 (feeling better here and in a groove)
3. 6:26 (ughhh seriousley thought i was going to throwup here, get passed by cross country girl, try so hard to stick with her but cant)
.1 55 sec (6:42 pace) I didnt realize how much I slowed down here, that hurt my time alot!
Overall felt decent and my race that matters is next week so today was some good speedwork, polishing. Chatted with a lot of people after the race, that was so much fun. Tons of girls in my ward ran and their kids so that was fun to see them all and we even a got a ward picture. Talked for awhile to Erica and her husband after the race, she is so awesome and fun to talk to and gave me some good advice for SG (she ran 2:54 last year). Very very nice people. Ran a cool down with Bull back on the course. Had a great time today! So excited for next week, I can hardly wait and my foot felt good today, could not feel the blister on the race but after it was a little sore, will be just fine by marathon day. Now off to my massage with April, whoo hooo! Hopefully I will make it easier for her today since I have had no issues with my hamstrings, quads, or calves lately (knock on wood!)

I dont even know where to begin this, I was feeling incredibly awesome and prepared the first 3 weeks of sept and then the past 2 weeks I have felt very off. I got that blister and then my foot had been hurting pretty bad because I would run funny to avoid hitting the spot. It was a stressful 2 weeks and my body does not handle stress well at all! So I dont know if they played an affect on my tanking of this marathon. I am trying so hard to be strong and positive about my performance today (not that I want anyone to do bad but I do find comfort in the fact that majority of people struggled and were off their goal times, sorry that is very selfish) but I am definetely struggling mentally with it. Its hard when you put so much time, effort and money into preparing to run a race and to feel so prepared and not have it happen. I know there are other races but to wait for the next one to come is hard, I am an inpatient person. Also since this is my stompin ground everyone around here was waiting to see if I could break 3 and I was so confident (and still know I very capable of running sub3) and now I just feel embarrassed that I didnt.
Did not sleep well but felt rested and was excited to go although I felt I was lacking the excitement an adrenaline I have before a race, esp SG. My hamstring started to act up again on thurs (stress) and I was worried about that and my foot with the rain and possibly re rubbing that blister (happy to say my foot or hamstring did not bother me at all, that is a very postive thing!).
Felt ok the first 10-11 miles not great but ok, and was only 1 minute off my pace chart. I was just waiting for the downhill where I could take off but at 11 started to feel a little sick and my legs were not feeling fresh, Andy and his posse passed me here. JamesW came up on me at 12 and we hung together til after the half. Hit the half in 1:32 (off now by 3 min) but still know I can negative split, but I had no go whatsoever. On my favorite part of the course past diamond into SC I can usually hit a couple 5:50'S there but i think I was in the mid 6's. Could not stick with James. Started feeling severly sick to my stomach. Dashed behind a car at mile 18 and then could not get my shorts up cause they were so soaking wet. After this my pace continued to slow and slow. Felt like i was running in slow motion, my breathing was great but my legs felt like dead weight. I felt so heavy because my clothes were sopping wet and so much for lightweight racing shoes! My thoughts are now to just finish , sub3 is way out the window and I am really thinking at this point I am going to be high teens or twentys. See tom ahead of me (he passed earlier back after andy I think) and just try to keep in view. Catch him and then notice my shoe is untied, try to tie it decent but fail (hands are numb and shaky) and it unties shortly after, I would have left it alone but these laces on my racers are long, learned I will cut them next time. Well I failed again on tying my shoe lace, my hubby is at mile 23 and I call him over to tie my shoe for me cuz i cant bend over again, super sick to my stomach. He told me after I did not look like my usual running self and believe me I didnt feel like it either, I felt like it was not MY body. I caught tom again and then he sped up or i slowed down at the last mile. I was more than ready to finish but with no PR. Ran straight the bathroom, found my family, talked to just a few people, told my hubby to go get my clothes and I needed to get home fast. Felt so horrible, cold and very sick. Got home hopped in the shower, quickly got dress and then alternated between laying on the couch and the bathroom floor. SPent most the afternoon throwing up hammer gel and endurox and then just a lot of dry heaving and that hurt. Also other stuff that I will spare you the details. My stomach hurt so bad!!!! This is not the first time, I have spent many post races like this.I know my salt dips too low and have had no problems this year but obvisoulsly today I didnt. I think its because I took IB profin this week for my foot and every time I have taken it close to races this happens so now I know I HATE that stuff and will never use it again. I know better but i overlooked it and thought i would be ok. My splits for the second half are so embarassing for myself I wont even post them. I did have a great time hanging out with Josse, her sister Ericka, Michelle and Jody and going to the blog get together. Thanks guys and congrats to Jody for having an awesome race and hitting her goal almost perfect!! So glad she had a good first marathon!
Update: After my very emotional breakdown this morning (i have a great husband who sat and listened, consoled and comforted me while I sobbed like a baby!) I am doing better and I started to think about Deena Kastor and Paula Radcliff that trained for 4 years for the olympics (paula for her second bad race go around and deena breaking her foot) my race now does not seem that bad. I am sure they had similar thoughts of "of all days, why today?" I will take my little 'ol SG marathon anyday over the feelings they went through after their olympic race. | |

Not really sore at all. My quads feel a little tired but thats about it. The worse soreness I have is my abs from throwingup/dry heaving all sat afternoon! So nice to sleep in and not stress last night about getting to bed early. Plan on running easy tomorrow. I SO WANT redemption for this race. I told myself and my husband that after SG I was going to back off of racing for awhile and I wanted a break (just from racing) . But I so dont now. I just want revenge! I dont know what my future over the next months has in store but I will continue my training and just play everything by ear and see what happens. I went out on my own today and am one of those extra paranoid people, but I think I may have gotten followed at the end, I was just finishing up and had to run down my street a little to make it an even 11 miles and a van pulled up behind me like they were going to the mailbox, got a really weird feeling and hurried and ran past him and ran into my house (I know stupid because if he was following me he now knows where I live) and he just turned around and drove off, it was not normal, it was creepy! Overall though felt pretty good on my run, legs got a little tired and heavy towards the end and hammie felt a tad tight. avg pace 8:01

| Ran with Jody up in West Valley. Did an out and back run. Felt pretty good, could still feel my hamstring, it would come and go throughout the run. Legs still don't feel super fresh, still heavy feeling. Ran easy out with Jody and then we turned around and I ran ahead a little. I get one more day of getting a treat each day but come sunday I am back on the straight and narrow. I now know why I try to stay away from my treats, they taste good going down but then I feel like crap after. My body is just not used this much sugar anymore! But Jody made some dang cute cookie dough last night! We went to a wedding yesterday and between wedding and wedding dinner went to the gateway and got a few things at Ann Taylor Loft (I justified to my husband because I had a coupon I had to use:) so that helped cure/ease my post marathon blues:) Thank you for shopping and clothes! avg pace 8:29

Ran some easy miles with Mike. Jody and I scrapped each other on sat night and boy could I feel it today, wow I have some pretty big brusies on my hamstrings. But my hamstring as far as the tightness goes feels much better. I was thinking of going running after work but decided against it because I think someone might call social services if they saw the back of my legs, I cant wear shorts in the daylight for fear someone might come take my hubby away. Dont worry Jody has just as big of brusies too:)
And I think I am going to take a break from blogging. I have gone back and forth on this for awhile now but feel I just spend too much time on the blog and need a break from it. Dont worry I am not breaking from running or racing or keeping track of my mileage- just blogging! I am going to keep my miles up and keep my 2 speed workouts a week and I am planning a winter marathon.

So my break from the blog didnt last too long, I was totally kidding myself when I said I would stay off of it for a couple weeks. I feel lost not blogging my miles but I needed a week where I just didnt get on it and so I could accomplish some other things. But I am back, yeah! Plus my mom reads my blog (Hi Mom!) and she said she missed reading my entries.
Slept in and didnt head out til around 8. Nice to sleep in but hate that by the time I get back and showered I feel like I wasted the whole morning. Ran the loop that I usually run with the Bermuda Tri but started from my house so it added an extra couple miles. Felt ok but not fantastic. Had some weird pains in my foot and my hamstring would feel a little tight now and again. But it was nice to just run.

Slept in til 7. Ran easy down to the start of the swiss days 5k route, ran the route (marathon pace) and then ran home. (easy) Took me the first mile of the 5k to get moving but then felt pretty decent, would forget at some points that I needed to be pushing hard and realized I slacking and then would pick it up. First mile was 7:01 and the next two were 6:40's. Felt good to get the sub 7's, since I have not ran a sub 7 since mile 15 or 16 of the marathon:)
So onto other things, so I have had a slight issue in my lower ab/groin (just like Tom and Cal, except mine is slight compared to theirs). Went to a sports med doc today and have a inguinal ligament strain that invloves the poas and pectineus muscle. He does not think mine is a sports hernia or athletes pubuglia (slightly different area) so that is good. Doesnt hurt to run but gets achy after and hurts with pretty much every other movement. Rolling over, bending over and getting up, lifting, sneezing, making the bed., pushups, weights, pretty much ANything that involves me using my lower ab hurts or feels like its going to tear. Totally tolerable pain but can defineltely feel it. So anyways I am supposed to take it easy and do some physical therapy work to strengthen that area. So I will try to take it easy and incorporate some cross training. Like I said it does not hurt to run so I dont have to stop running but just take it easy. So a winter marathon is probably out for me, I dont want to make it worse. | |

Ran with Cheri on the trails and through town, probably overdressed but was glad I did at one point because there is a spot on the bike path by the river that the temp drops. I dread winter coming. So techincally I am supposed to be taking it easy so I didnt run yesterday, was actually planning on it but got to bed late and then decided to just sleep in. Usually I cant feel my lower ab til about mile 6-7 and its usually just a dull ache nothing painful but today it started to ache/burn in my quad the last couple miles. I will scrape it tonight and see how that helps.

Jody is in town so she met me over at my house and we ran 3 mi down to the swiss days 5k start and ran some faster paced miles. Felt better than I did last week on it. I missed one of the turns and then ran up a wrong road and back down and then ran too far down and then had to turn around (sorry Jody!) I lost my momentum there, got going again and finished up feeling pretty strong. I defintely push myself harder when there is someone in front of me that I am trying to catch. 5k ended up being a little long today:) 6:45, 7:12 (this is where I missed the turn and stopped trying to figure out where I was) 6:45 and and 6:45 for last 1/2 mi. Then we ran easy home and then I added on another 3 mi around my house. Nice to get some fast miles in but I still feel so out of shape! Some tugging/pulling in lower ab last 4 miles. | |

| Ran with Cheri on our normal route. We just took it pretty easy and enjoyed the run. I must say its nice to be running with no pressure of training for anything. Still feel my lower ab towards the end of the run. For that reason I am not going to run the half tomorrow , its just not worth it to me to have it get worse at this point and I am just not in the mood to race. This past year was I raced so much and was so aggressive in training that I am flat race burned out. I have tried to tell myself "i can just go run it and not really race it" but we all know that it wouldnt happen and I would end up racing it and taking the risk of turning the strain into something more. My friend was not feeling well this morning so I reset the alarm and didnt head out to run til 7. Nice to have an extra 2 hours to sleep but I would rather be running with somebody though too! Did one of my old routes that I have not done for awhile, starts out uphill for 2 miles and then the last mile is a good uphill as well.
