Ran with Mike. My leg felt ok going out but then I had a pit stop to use the bathroom and after that the top of my calf and up behind my knee tightned up really bad and then about a mile or two after that I felt a sharp pain. Stopped and walked for a second but the rest of the way it was cramping up sooooo bad, felt like a charlie horse. We ended up walking and jogging the last couple miles back. It kept cramping and then it felt like it would buckle a little. Oh I am so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its never bothered me like this where its made have to stop and walk-very annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I may try a deep tissue massage in that area today and then x-train tomorrow and rest it til Monday.

It always seems like when you are in a good groove with running, something happens. At least to me. I get sick, or shin splints, but things have been going good lately. I hope your leg feels better.

I am planning on running the Spectrum 10k in March. I reall like running 6 miles lately. What is your next race?

Sorry to hear you have some of those nagging injuries. I'm feeling the same way with my hip, so days it feels ok and I try to push other days it is just frustrating. This week has really been a downer because I been sick with a cold and terrible cough.

From wildbull on Fri, Feb 08, 2008 at 11:49:45

I know your pain. patients is the key. hang in there. your body will come around. (RICE) streatching 3x a day.

Marci. I will pick up your bag for ya at he Dam to Dam race

From Clay on Fri, Feb 08, 2008 at 13:23:11

I know all about injury's, I have been dealing with mine for about four months now, it sucks.

My best advice would be to back off and not make it worse. I didn't do that and I am paying the price now, although I am on the road to recovery it has been along process...

Hand in there!!!!

Sorry to hear about your frustrating run and injuries - NO FUN! You are a tough person and you'll make it through with flying colors. Just hang in there!

I also thought of something else, you may be depleted in your mineral, as well as magnesuim and calcuim that can cause charley horse like cramping. When you get charley horses while running the pain can last longer than if you got in bed or something. So your claf may just be sore for a few days.

Ally-

My next race is Moab and then Spectrum 10k. Although I am debating whether I should run the 10k, thats where this little injury all started was after last years race.

Wildbull,

Thanks I sure appreciate it.

Clay-

I know its so hard to deal with these dumb things. Glad you are making it back!

Andee, thanks and it was good to talk to you on the phone.

Josse,

I bought the ice pack holder and LOVE IT, its so convient!!! Thank you. and Steve H gave me a girls # down here that he is says he really good with sports related injury massages so I will give her a call. I was trying to talk my husband into letting me drive up and see you. I could be depleted, I take a multiviamin everyday but I may need extra. Its pretty sore right now, even to walk is uncomfortable. Thanks for all your help.

Make sure your muli-vit. has minerals most don't so you have to add them in. Liquid form are the best.

I am so sorry about your leg. Hang in there!!! Can't wait to come down next weekend!!!!

From Christi on Fri, Feb 08, 2008 at 22:53:25

Ah, man! That stinks, so sorry! Come spin w/ me at the gym next week for some x-training!

From MichelleL on Fri, Feb 08, 2008 at 23:10:03

So sorry your legs aren't cooperating. It seems we just push ourselves to our limits. It sounds like backing off this weekend and all the other things you are doing is the right path.
